England U21 vs Austria U21 preview
It wasn’t a stellar start to life without Lee Carsley.
England’s young team were held to a goalless draw by Northern Ireland in Euro 2021 qualifying on Friday night.
They dominated much of the game and of course had the better chances, but could quite easily have lost the game late on when the hosts countered well.
It was only the second time since March 2023 that England U21s failed to win a game, with Northern Ireland boss Tommy Wright – who won the Scottish Cup in his time at St Johnstone – hailing it one of his proudest nights.
They’re short odds to win tonight against an Austria side who themselves don’t taste defeat too often.
The visitors are six games without defeat (W3, D3) and have beaten England on English soil at this age group.
