Seats were drenched by the flood, while water also covered the area next to the pitch as staff acted quickly to try and stop the situation getting out of hand.

This all happened at the same time as Turkey and Georgia fans clashed violently at one end of the ground.

A number of workers were filmed sweeping huge amounts of water into a drain by the side of the pitch.

But one man caught the attention of fans as he was seen kicking water down the drain.

He then went and picked up a plank of wood and used that to help with the overflow.

Reacting on social media, one user reacted: “They’re playing curling at a football stadium.”

Another added: “Obsessed with this guy that comes along and tries to help by kicking the water with his foot.”

A third replied: “We all have a guy like this in every group project .”
