New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara sparked social media debates after he threw the first pitch at a recent Chicago Cubs game. What started as a lighthearted moment with Kamara jokingly asking for a do-over after his first pitch sailed wide quickly turned into something more intriguing. Bears fans began immediately speculating whether this Chicago cameo was more than just a baseball appearance.
Alvin Kamara’s Wrigley Appearance Fuels Bears Trade Speculation

GettyAlvin Kamara #41 of the New Orleans Saints is among the latest running backs floated as a trade possibility for the Chicago Bears.
Kamara, 29, signed a two-year, $23.5 million extension with the Saints back in 2024, which ties him with the team through 2026. The 2017 Offensive Rookie of the Year and five-time Pro Bowler has logged 6,779 rushing yards, 85 total touchdowns, and 4,762 receiving yards during the regular season in eight seasons with the Saints.
Though no formal discussions have been confirmed, the possibility of a trade gained traction as fans connected the dots between the Saints’ future plans with Kamara and Chicago’s question marks at running back.
Chicago’s new head coach, Ben Johnson, is installing a creative offensive scheme that values versatile playmakers, precisely the type of role Kamara has thrived in since entering the league in 2017. His ability to catch passes out of the backfield, run between the tackles, and score in the red zone makes him a unique asset. With the Bears’ only adding seventh-round pick Kyle Monangai at running back, they could use a dynamic back like Kamara in the backfield.
Over his eight-year career, he has created a reputation as one of the league’s most effective dual threats. It’s easy to understand why fans would love seeing the Bears make a trade.
Weighing the Cons of a Potential Deal
At 29 years old, Kamara has taken on a heavy workload and has a growing history of injuries. Running backs are known to have a decline after the age of 30, and it’s a fair question whether he can stay healthy over a full season.
Another obstacle is Kamara’s contract. He has a $10 million cap hit in 2025 and a massive $18.6 million cap hit in 2026. For a Bears front office that has worked to maintain long-term flexibility, taking on such a sizeable salary would be worrisome.
Plus, there’s the draft capital needed to acquire Kamara, which would likely be a mid-round pick or a player like D’Andre Swift.
While Kamara’s Wrigley Field appearance may have been nothing more than a fun event, it’s hard not to think of the possibility of seeing him in a Bears’ jersey. Unless the Saints are ok shipping him off for little compensation or the Bears are prepared to make a major financial commitment, this deal may stay in the realm of offseason rumors. Still, in a league where surprises happen fast, Kamara’s first pitch could turn into a first down in Soldier Field.
