Ex-Chiefs Star Tyreek Hill Shares Heartfelt Message Before Surgery [Watch]

Former Kansas City Chiefs star wide receiver Tyreek Hill endured a gruesome knee injury during Monday’s prime-time game between the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets.

Hill, a member of the Dolphins, dislocated his knee during the third quarter of Miami’s 27-21 win over the Jets. Ahead of his surgery on Tuesday, Hill shared his thoughts and gratitude for everyone’s support since the season-ending injury.

“Thank you guys for the prayers, I feel all the love,” Hill posted on X.com, “here we go.”

Hill also included a video where he said more.

“Alright, guys. Tyreek Hill here. Aka Cheetah. About to go in for this surgery. Keep your boy in your prayers,” Hill said from his hospital bed. “You guys have been awesome, man. Fins Nation. The whole entire NFL.”

“You’ve been amazing, you know, sending me lots of love, lots of prayers, and I’m absolutely honored, man. You know, granted the situation,” Hill continued. “But I love you guys so much and hope to see you soon. Cheetah.”

Tyreek Hill Excelled With the Chiefs

A fifth-round pick of the Chiefs in 2016, Hill became a star in Kansas City between 2016 and 2021. He won a Super Bowl and made All-Pro three times for the first team and once for the second team.

Hill also made the Pro Bowl every season with the Chiefs as he became a favorite target of quarterback Patrick Mahomes. With the Chiefs, Hill tallied 479 receptions for 6,630 yards and 56 touchdowns in six seasons.

He excelled in the playoffs with the Chiefs as he caught 84 passes for 1,081 yards and five touchdowns in 13 postseason games. Hill’s time with the Chiefs ended in 2022 when the team traded him to the Dolphins, where he remained one of the league’s top wideouts.

Hill has 340 receptions for 4,733 yards and 27 touchdowns in four seasons with the Dolphins. He made another two All-Pro and Pro Bowl appearances in that span as he topped 1,700 yards in 2022 and 2023.

Hill only had 81 receptions for 959 yards and six touchdowns in 2024 as the Dolphins were mired with quarterback injuries. He also wanted a new contract during the offseason, which led to rampant trade speculation.

Hill may have played his final game in a Dolphins uniform due to tensions with the team, but he has one year left on his three-year, $90 million contract in 2026. For now, the Dolphins (1-3) will have to find answers in the passing game without Hill, and the Chiefs and forget about Hill returning to his former team anytime soon.

Kansas City last played in the Dolphins in the 2023 season Wild Card round and won 26-7. Hill had five receptions for 62 yards and a touchdown in that frigid, subzero game.

Patrick Mahomes Sends Message to Tyreek Hill

While Chiefs players may have privately reached out to Hill since the injury, Mahomes went public with a social media post on Monday night. Mahomes posted “prayers up man” via X.com.

The Chiefs‘ No. 10 pick in 2017, Mahomes and Hill teamed up for four impressive seasons on the field when Mahomes became the starter in 2018. During the Hill years, Mahomes threw for no fewer than 4,031 yards and 26 touchdowns.
