FORMER England batsman Jonathan Trott has been accused by fans of being involved in “cheating” during Afghanistan’s historic win at the T20 World Cup.
Afghanistan beat Bangladesh by eight runs on Duckworth-Lewis to reach the semi-finals for the first time in their history, eliminating Australia in the process.

But viewers suggested some underhand tactics were involved towards the end of the game – which was hampered by intermittent rain delays.
With more showers expected, Afghanistan coach Trott, 43, signalled for his players to slow down the play, pointing to the sky to reference the expected rain.
The match being halted due to the weather conditions would have secured Afghanistan’s place in the semi-finals.
A Bangladesh win with more than 45 balls to spare would have put them through, while a slimmer margin of victory would have seen Australia advance.
And immediately after Trott had urged his players to reduce the tempo of the game, Gulbadin Naib collapsed at first slip holding his hamstring.
Commentator Simon Doull said: “Oh no no no, sorry. You can’t have this. I’m not accepting that.
“Even Rashid [Khan] doesn’t like it. It’s just delay tactics. I get it but I don’t like that at all. It is unacceptable.
“They might have gone off anyway for the rain but that’s not a good look.

“I know the Euros are going on in football, you’d be better off there.”
And fans were quick to vent their anger on social media as they accused Afghanistan of cheating.
One said: “A one-match ban would be extremely fitting.”
While another added: “This is just blatant cheating.”
And a third replied: “English coach. Spirit of cricket. Interesting times.”
Afghanistan will now play South Africa on Thursday for a place in the final, while defending champions England take on Australia.
