Exciting Taylor Swift Announcement Made Ahead of Chiefs-Commmanders Game

The Kansas City Chiefs enter Week 8 against the Washington Commanders on a hot streak. Following their 31-0 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Co. are firing on all cylinders.

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce caught all three of his targets for 54 yards against the Raiders. During the latest episode of his “New Heights” podcast, Kelce couldn’t help but gush over the team’s performance.

“There’s some mind-blowing stats,” Kelce said. “Like, we had as many first downs (30) as they had offensive plays. It’s crazy to kind of think about what really went on this past Sunday.”

Kelce’s older brother, Jason Kelce, also gave Kansas City their flowers while giving a shoutout to his future sister-in-law, Taylor Swift, who attended the Chiefs-Raiders game at Arrowhead Stadium.

Jason mentioned how Mahomes used Swift’s song “Opalite” from her latest album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” in his Instagram highlight clip. “The sky is definitely opalite in Kansas City right now for the Chiefs,” the ESPN analyst said. “There’s no question. It was Onyx for the first two weeks, but we are full on beautiful.”

“That’s too good,” Travis responded. “I told y’all it was gonna be a banger, man.”

The song “Opalite,” inspired by Travis and his birthstone, made history one day before the Chiefs’ Week 7 matchup, becoming the fastest non-single in history to reach 100 million streams on Spotify.

Ahead of the Commanders-Chiefs matchup, Travis’ fiancée received even more exciting news.

Taylor Swift Earned a Songwriters Hall of Fame Nomination

The 2026 Songwriters Hall of Fame announced their nominees for the prestigious honor on Thursday, October 23, and Swift’s name made the list.

Other nominees in the Performing Songwriters category alongside Swift include Sarah McLachlan, Pink (Alecia Moore), LL Cool J (James Todd Smith), Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley of KISS, Kenny Loggins, and more. Swift earned the nomination during her first of eligibility.

The Songwriters HOF states, “A songwriter with a catalog of notable songs qualifies for induction 20 years after their first commercial release of a song.” Swift’s first commercial release, “Tim McGraw,” dropped in June 2006, and the HOF induction ceremony typically takes place in June. After the voting concludes, only the top 3 of the Performing Songwriters will be inducted. The same rules apply for the Non-Performing Songwriters.

Thus far this season, Swift has only attended home games. Swift quietly returned to Arrowhead Stadium to watch Kansas City’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2 and looked on as the Chiefs defeated the Baltimore Ravens 37-20 in Week 3.

In addition to the Raiders-Chiefs game, the 14-time Grammy winner also attended the Chiefs’ 30-17 win over the Detroit Lions in Week 6.

With the Commanders traveling to Arrowhead Stadium for the Monday Night Football showdown in Week 8, all signs point toward Swift making it to the game.
