And fans raged on social media as they vented their frustrations.

Another added: “No f***ing way Sky Sports cricket died wtf.”

A third replied: “Sky Sports Cricket going down at such a crucial moment. Shambles of a service and overvalued.”

While a fourth responded: “Possibly the worst EVER time for a fault on the Sky coverage.”

Bangladesh ended up winning by 25 runs as they took a huge step towards qualifying for the Super 8s.

The Netherlands looked in a strong position with six overs remaining, before leg-spinner Rishad Hossain took the wickets of Sybrand Engelbrecht and Bas de Leede.

Bangladesh then conceded just 23 runs in the final five overs to seal victory.

They will confirm their place in the Super 8s with a win over Nepal on Monday, while the Netherlands need to hope Bangladesh lose and they beat Sri Lanka with a sizeable run-rate swing.
