Fans slam Chelsea for funding £1BILLION transfer spending spree by charging huge sum for ‘potato with sprinkled spices’

FANS believe they have discovered the surprise source of Chelsea’s seemingly bottomless pit of money as they continue their stunning spending spree.

Chelsea are on course to land another attacker before the window slams shut later this month, with Joao Felix and Victor Osimhen prominently linked following the latest arrival of Pedro Neto.

Since Todd Boehly and Clearlake took charge two years ago, the club have spent almost £1.2billion on new signings.

This splashing of the cash is showing no signs of stopping either, with their aforementioned targets likely to put them over the £1.2bn mark for spending in just five transfer windows.

It is a strategy widely lamented by both fans and pundits alike amid whispers of a possible breach of Premier League Profit and Sustainability rules (PSR), particularly considering the considerable shortcomings seen on the pitch over the last two seasons.

However, fans believe they may have mashed together the source of the money thanks to portion of Masala Potatoes, which fans were charged £7.50 for during a friendly match at Stamford Bridge against Inter Milan.

A picture of the paltry portion was shared on popular football food account “Footy Scran” on Sunday, with 54.3 per cent of a 7,000 strong poll saying they would not eat it.

Other appalled fans reacted to the food in the comments, with one saying: “£7.50 for a potato with sprinkled spices, most expensive bag of crisps ever.”

A second said: “£7.50 for basically one potato, sliced and with a spice rub on it – nah.”

Another said: “£7.50 for potatoes with curry powder on them.”

A fourth added: “No wonder they can afford to buy 30 players a window.”

A fifth said: “£7.50 potato slices equals unlimited signings for the first team.”

Chelsea have signed nine players for Enzo Maresca so far this window.

They kick off their Premier League season at Stamford Bridge against champions Manchester City on Sunday.
