Fans vow to cheer on Paraguay at Olympics as ‘Miss Universe contender’ with risque tattoo qualifies for Paris 2024

FANS have rejoiced online after noticing that a Paraguayan swimmer has qualified for the Olympics this summer.

Swimming sensation Luana Alonso, 20, has booked her spot in Paris next month.

Alonso took to social media to announce to her followers that she has made the Olympic team for Paraguay.

She wrote: “It’s official! Qualified for the Paris 2024 games!

“My heart is happy to represent the country once again! Thanks to my family, friends and sponsors for making this possible!

“And to all of you who follow me and give me your love and affection. Let’s go Paraguay!”

Alonso will be competing in her second Olympics games after representing Paraguay in the women’s 100 metre butterfly event at the 2020 Tokyo games aged just 17.

She even got a commemorative tattoo of the Olympic rings on her upper thigh to remember the achievement.

And fans are thrilled to see her make the grade once again with her post gaining incredible traction on social media.

Over 3.1 MILLION people viewed her celebratory message in just over 24 hours with many fans vowing to support Paraguay this summer.

Some supporters pointed towards her looks as one even joked that she should apply for Miss Universe as well as going for gold in the French capital this summer.

One fan wrote: “Congratulations. Could you consider representing us for Miss Universe too?”

While another added: “I will be watching the Olympics this year. Let’s go Paraguay!”

A third gushed: “I have no idea why this post appeared to me but I declare myself an fan of the Paraguayan swimming team forever.”

And a fourth joked: “Hey Siri, how do I move to Paraguay?”

Alonso is currently studying in the US after she gained a scholarship at the Southern Methodist University near Dallas, Texas – where she swims for the Mustangs.

She’s not the only sport star to study at SMU either with golf superstar and two-time US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau also graduating from the college.

Alonso began swimming competitively when she was just 11 years old and later impressed during the 2022 South American Youth Games, winning three medals at the Argentinian event.

Despite her immense talents in the water, Alonso has previously made it clear that she doesn’t want to dedicate her entire life to the sport.

Reports have suggested she’s planning on hanging up her goggles by the age of 27, but could do it sooner.

She told 730 AM Radio that dedicating her life to swimming is “not what I want it life”.

With settling down to start a family firmly in her sights after she told the radio station that her lifelong dream is “to be a mother”.

Adding: “If I continue to be linked to swimming, I think that will not be possible”.

Although her swimming has served her very well so far with the rising star already signed on as a Nike athlete as well as boasting over 220,000 followers on Instagram.
