It’s a marvelous record for Aliyah Boston to obtain in her young WNBA career with the Fever. It will be hard for future players to reach her, but they can pull it off if they crash the glass more than her.
Thanks to her overall efforts, it helped the Fever blow out the Storm 95-75 throughout Tuesday night.
The game started out close as Indiana only had a 26-20 lead after the first quarter. However, Seattle slowed down offensively while the hosts maintained their rhythm. This allowed the Fever to build up their lead to a point where the Storm couldn’t come back from.
Shot accuracy and rebounding had huge impacts on this matchup. The Fever was red-hot with their shooting as they converted 50.7% of their total shot attempts, including 41.2% from three, while secured 42 rebounds. It wasn’t the same situation for the Storm as they made 47.5% of their overall shots, including 35.3% from deep, while getting just 21 rebounds.
Three players scored in double-digits on Indiana’s behalf, including Boston. Odyssey Sims had a strong performance with 22 points, six assists, three rebounds, and one steal. She shot 8-of-14 overall, including 3-of-4 from downtown, and 3-of-4 from the charity stripe. Kelsey Mitchell came next with 21 points and two assists, while Natasha Howard provided six points and six assists.
Indiana improved to a 20-18 record on the season, holding the third spot of the Eastern Conference standings. They are three games behind the New York Liberty and 4.5 games behind the Atlanta Dream. With playoff contention on the line, they will need to keep playing well down the stretch.
Even though Caitlin Clark has had an injury-riddled season, Indiana has persevered through the efforts of Boston and Mitchell. From the former, she is averaging 15.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, a steal, and a block per game after 38 appearances. She is shooting 54.6% from the field and 77.1% from the line.
With six games remaining, the Fever will prepare for their next matchup, being on the road. They face the Los Angeles Sparks on Aug. 29 at 10 p.m. ET.
