Through three games of the 2025 season, there have been a number of issues that have plagued the Florida Gators. One of the biggest has been their struggles on offense.
Aside from putting up 55 points on Long Island in the season opener, the Gators have struggled to score. In their next three games, they have scored a total of 33 points. Those points have been scored against LSU, South Florida, and Miami.
Florida will be coming off a bye this Saturday when they host ninth-ranked Texas. Quarterback DJ Langway sounded so confident that the Gators will turn things around on offense that he sent a message to their remaining opponents.
Florida QB DJ Langway Confident Amid Struggles in 2025
During Florida’s bye week, Langway worked on a lot of things. He participated in 11-on-11 drills and worked on his pocket presence and mechanics, throwing the ball. The things have been an issue at times through the first four games.
“I would say this is my first real week of just good on good reps the whole practice, so it was just great to get out there and compete against the first team defense that has been playing really well,” Lagway said. “It is always good to go out there and compete and have fun.”
Florida will need him to turn things around beginning against the Longhorns. So far this year, he has thrown for 690 yards, five touchdowns, and six interceptions. He has a completion rate of 67.5%. The bye week came at a good time.
“We did quite a bit of just 11-on-11 full-speed work with DJ, just trying to get caught up for him. I think that was important, just more live bullets, you know, with him and the other players,” said Florida coach Billy Napier. “That’s what he needs, and I think that’s ultimately what we decided to go with.”
It feels like this is something that should have been done during camp in August, but struggles like Florida is going through will make you readdress things. One thing that won’t change beginning Saturday is who is calling the plays.
DJ Langway’s Message to Future Opponents
Napier defended his play-calling on Monday, which has the Gators near the bottom of the SEC in most offensive categories. He is not planning on giving up his duties along with being the head coach.
If Florida’s offense is going to get going, it will be done against a daunting schedule. One look at the schedule, and there are a lot of good teams and defenses coming up. That hasn’t stopped Langway from being very confident.
“Eventually, it’s going to pop. And when it pops, it is going to be hard to stop. I’ll tell you that right now,” Lagway said. “I definitely feel like that. We just need a little spark and it’s going to set ablaze. So we just gotta keep chopping wood, carrying water, and just continue to better our process.”
If Florida is going to turn things around this season, then they will need their offense to get popping. If not, it’s going to be a long eight games for the Gators.
