It is hard to find a college football team who had a better weekend than the Florida State Seminoles in Week 1. Not only did the Noles notch an upset victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida State is also trending in the right direction for a highly touted quarterback.
Four-star quarterback Kavian Bryant is the No. 1 rated signal-caller in the 2027 recruiting class, per Rivals. Bryant was in attendance in Tallahassee to get an up-close look at FSU’s handling of Bama.
The visit went so good that Bryant extended his stay for an extra day-and-a-half, per Matt LeSerre of On3’s Warchant.
“Kavian Bryant, who Rivals rates as the No. 1 quarterback in the 2027 class, not only was in attendance for FSU’s upset of Alabama on Saturday, but he stayed a day-and-a-half more to spend time with the coaching staff and see the campus,” LaSerre wrote in a September 1, 2025, story titled, “‘Great vibe all around’ … Elite QB target Kavian Bryant loves extended FSU visit.”
“… Immediately after the game, Bryant told the media that FSU was in his top five ‘for sure.’ When he was asked Monday if the Seminoles had moved up any more, he told Warchant, ‘Yeah, Florida State is definitely up there.’”
Four-Star QB Kavian Bryant Raved About Florida State Visit Amid Noles’ Upset of Alabama
It is early, but Bryant is already projected to land a $359,000 NIL deal. In addition to Florida State, Bryant is also generating interest from a number of top college football programs including Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Michigan and Texas, per On3.
“It was really good,” Bryant told On3. “Coach (Mike Norvell) was really transparent. I felt the energy, the vibe, it was all cool.
“… Just great energy, great vibe all around. The whole visit was just up to par.”
Florida State HC Mike Norvell on QB Thomas Castellanos: ‘If Tommy Didn’t Say a Word, You Would Still Feel the Way He Plays’
Florida State already has a four-star quarterback commitment for 2026 in Jaden O’Neal. The Seminoles have the No. 15 ranked recruiting class for 2026, per On3, a number that could continue to rise if Florida State has more on-field success this season.
For now, the Noles’ attention is on Thomas Castellanos who led Florida State to a massive upset after spending the majority of the college football offseason warning Alabama. Even amid Castellanos’ talk about Bama throughout the offseason, Norvell remained confident in Florida State’s QB1.
“I know you guys have asked a lot of questions about Tommy since he’s been here and I think, probably every time that I’ve answered, I talk about the investment he’s making off the field,” Norvell said of Castellanos, per On3. “I talk about, you know, what he’s doing pouring into his teammates,” said Norvell. “You know, he really is a guy that, when he steps on the field, you know, ten guys on offense are better.
“He’s got great energy. But it’s not just what he says, and that’s where people can get caught up, because somebody’s not afraid to talk and, you know, put thoughts out there. I mean, he does it with his actions. If Tommy didn’t say a word, you would still feel the way he plays.”
