Former Chiefs RB Sends 3-Word Message to Brett Veach on Tyreek Hill

The Kansas City Chiefs have not had the start to the 2025 campaign that they were hoping for. After getting blown out in Super Bowl LIX by the Philadelphia Eagles to conclude last season, the Chiefs have opened the new year with losses to the Los Angeles Chargers and the Eagles, making this the first time they have started with a 0-2 record in the Patrick Mahomes era.

While Kansas City hasn’t necessarily played bad football, they are lacking dynamic playmakers on the offensive side of the ball. Trade rumors have swirled around the team regarding a potential reunion with Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill, and one of the team’s former players, star running back LeSean McCoy, sent general manager Brett Veach a strong message regarding a potential trade for Hill.

LeSean McCoy Urges Brett Veach, Chiefs to Trade for Tyreek Hill

Hill broke into the league with the Chiefs as a fifth-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, and ever since then, he’s been one of the most explosive playmakers in the league. An eight-time Pro Bowler who has also earned a spot on the All-Pro First Team five times, Hill is still one of the most dangerous players at his position.

Heading into Week 3, the Dolphins are a mess, having lost their first two games in embarrassing fashion. If they continue to lose, and Hill remains unhappy with the team, a trade could end up being made by Miami’s front office. Given his familiarity with the Chiefs and their need for more help at wide receiver, they could be a reasonable landing spot for him in this situation.

One guy who fully believes Kansas City should trade for Hill is McCoy. Having played alongside Hill in 2019 with the Chiefs, McCoy knows what the speedy pass catcher is capable of, and even at 31 years old, he believes he can unlock the offense for Mahomes and company. With that in mind, he urged Veach to trade for Hill and bring him back to town.

“Brett Veach, go get him. You need him,” McCoy passionately exclaimed on “SPEAKEASY.” “You need somebody that can separate from man coverage … You gonna have your quarterback run around all day, all game? … They tryna win. Tyreek Hill is a winner.”

On paper, Hill is a perfect fit for the Chiefs’ offense. With Rashee Rice suspended and Xavier Worthy dealing with a shoulder injury, Kansas City doesn’t have anyone who can beat man coverage in its passing attack right now. As Hill proved in Week 2 against the New England Patriots, when he caught six passes for 109 yards, he still is capable of ripping off big plays when the football finds its way to him.

It is worth noting, though, that Rice and Worthy will be back soon, and off the field, Hill is dealing with domestic violence allegations from his ex-wife, Keeta Vaccaro. Beyond that, the Dolphins aren’t currently interested in changing Hill, but as noted above, that could change quickly. K.C.’s odds of acquiring Hill right now aren’t great, but if he ends up becoming available, they should do whatever it takes to reunite him with Mahomes.
