Former Eagles RB Linked to Possible Comeback With AFC North Team

The Baltimore Ravens are on the hunt for a running back. Could they look to a former Philadelphia Eagle for help?

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Ravens hosted veteran Boston Scott for a workout over the weekend.

The 30-year-old Scott — a 2018 sixth-round pick out of Louisiana Tech — spent his first six NFL seasons (2018-23) with the Eagles, rushing for 1,295 yards and 16 touchdowns in 73 regular-season games. He also had 71 catches for 566 yards and a score.

Scott signed last offseason with the Los Angeles Rams but was released prior to the final roster cutdowns before joining the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad.

Boston Scott Was Beloved by Eagles Fans

The 5-foot-6 Scott may be diminutive in size but became a beloved figure in Philadelphia. He was effective in a complementary role, averaging 4.3 yards per carry behind the likes of Miles Sanders and D’Andre Swift.

Scott had a knack for playing well against the New York Giants, even earning the nickname “Giant Killer.” In 11 games against the Eagles’ NFC East rival from 2019-2023, Scott ran for 446 yards (34.4% of his career total) and 10 touchdowns.

Prior to the teams’ matchup in the 2023 NFC Divisional Round, Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham acknowledged it was a popular topic of conversation.

“I know they always call him the ‘Giant-killer,’” Graham said via the New York Post. “On the sidelines against the Giants, whenever he gets the ball, we’re talking about it.”

Scott was most recently with the Steelers, but they released him last September with an injury settlement after he suffered a partially torn meniscus in his knee during the preseason.

Ravens Looking For Depth Behind Derrick Henry

The Ravens have cast a wide net in their search for depth behind All-Pro Derrick Henry, who ran for 1,921 yards and 16 touchdowns in his first year with Baltimore.

The defending AFC North champions recently added veteran Myles Gaskin, who has 1,354 career rushing yards over six seasons with the Miami Dolphins, Rams and Minnesota Vikings. That could mean Baltimore is now done adding running backs, but at the very least the Ravens did their due diligence by working out Scott.

In the preseason opener, a 24-16 win over the Indianapolis Colts, Keaton Mitchell led the Ravens with 68 yards and a touchdown on nine carries. D’Ernerst Johnson had a team-high 18 carries for 57 yards.
