Former Jets All-Pro Signs With Raiders, Slams Door on Reunion Hopes

Former New York Jets All-Pro safety Jamal Adams is back in the NFL.

NFL Insider Jordan Schultz shared the news on social media that Adams is signing a deal with the Las Vegas Raiders.

“Reunited with Pete Carroll in Las Vegas, I’m told Adams is in excellent shape and the healthiest he’s been in years,” Schultz revealed.

Adams secured a reunion this offseason with his former head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, Pete Carroll, now the head coach of the Raiders. Carroll and Adams crossed over for four seasons from 2020 through 2023.

However, Adams’ signing in Las Vegas officially slams the door on the Jets reunion talks.

Adams joined “The Jets Lounge” for a long-form conversation, talking about his up-and-down tenure with the team. During that chat, Adams revealed that he would be very interested in a reunion with the green and white.

“I would be lying to you if I sat here and said I didn’t want to return home. When I say home, I’m not talking about Dallas, I’m talking about New York, man. So I would love to be back with the Jets and obviously finish it the right way. Man, that would be a dream come true just to patch up that relationship and kind of make it work,” Adams told “The Jets Lounge” earlier this offseason.

Jets Social Media Didn’t Want an Adams Reunion

Reunion rumors were hot and heavy coming off that interview. Adams, 29, entered the league as the No. 6 overall pick in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft.

He spent the first three years of his career with the Jets. In what ended up being his final season in green and white, Adams was named a first-team All-Pro.

However, despite some great play on the field, Adams’ breakup with the Jets was ugly as he shot his way out of town. It left a bad taste in Jets fans’ mouths.

Jets fans had a very strong reaction to a reunion possibility.

“That ship has sailed,” a fan responded.

“hellllll nooooo,” a fan bluntly said.

“Hell no, the last thing this teams needs is a self centered washed up player. We just got rid of one in AR [Aaron Rodgers],” another fan angrily reacted.

“Oh hell no! I hope JETS fans don’t forget how much [expletive] this guy did for us to get rid of him. I’ll tell you this, I’ll bet AG doesn’t forget, even tho he wasn’t w/the JETS organization at that time. Self-proclaimed PREZ doesn’t fit our team first young culture,” a fan challenged.
