Delfouneso, 33, has taken charge of the team on an interim basis after manager Chris Beech and his assistant Nick Anderton left the club.

The striker will be joined by former Shrewsbury Town and Port Vale goalkeeper Chris Neal in the dugout.

They will be preparing the team for their National League clash against Southend on Tuesday night.

Fylde are currently 23rd in the division, having won just once in their first eight games.

Delfouneso came through the youth ranks at Aston Villa and went on to make 52 appearances for the club, scoring nine times.

He left Villa Park in 2014 for Blackpool in the Championship but left after a single year to Blackburn.

After a loan at Bury and a stint at Swindon Town, he returned to the Seasiders.

During his three-year spell between 2017 and 2020, Delfouneso featured in 125 league games and scored 24 goals.

He then had spells at Accrington Stanley, Flyde, Chorley before joining Hednesford in February earlier this year.

Delfouneso showed plenty of promise in his youth as he featured for England‘s youth teams.

He played for the U16s, U17s, U19s and U21s and scored 19 goals in 55 appearances.

However, he never earned a cap for the senior Three Lions side.
