She appeared to be, in the words of At The Races, ‘hiding under a tree’ alongside husband Philip before the 2.14pm race, won by 7-2 Batal Dubai.
It didn’t look like May, who was PM from 2016-2019, had a runner in the contest.
But she might have some more time to go to the races after standing down from the House of Commons at last year’s general election.
May is thought to have previously had shares in a horse called Dome Patrol, who raced and won at Lingfield for trainer William Muir in the mid Nineties.
Maybe she, and the Tories, will have a bit more luck at the track than in the polls.
