According to a report from the New York Post’s Joe Marino, Jorge Fitz-Gibbon and Kirsten Fleming on November 16, Boyd, who spent part of the 2023 and all of the 2024 seasons with the Texans, was “shot in the abdomen.”

The incident occurred near Seventh Avenue on West 38th Street. It was “outside Sei Less restaurant  after a dispute turned violent, with the gunmen firing two shots.”

Witnesses were “uncooperative” with authorities on the scene.

The Post reported that the alleged shooter “fled the scene in a BMW X” while a “high-end silver Mercedes-Benz Maybach” fled the scene in the aftermath. A third vehicle, Rhino GX, “a luxury armored SUV,” which retails for up to $300,000, was also parked at the scene.

“Boyd lapsed in and out of consciousness before he was rushed to the hospital, where he is listed in critical but stable condition,” the Post’s trio wrote.

“Cops said there have been no arrests and the shooting is under investigation.”

An unnamed spokesperson for the Jets told the New York Post and other outlets seeking input about the situation that they “are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time.”

The Jets were inactive on Sunday after a loss to the New England Patriots on “Thursday Night Football.”

Boyd, who is on injured reserve with a shoulder injury, has not played this season.

Kris Boyd Pushed Texans Coach

Boyd entered the league as a sixth-round pick, selected with the 217th overall pick by the Minnesota Vikings, before eventually finding his way to the Texans in free agency during the 2023 season.

That was after the veteran spent time with the Arizona Cardinals.

During his Texans tenure, Boyd caused a stir. He came to the sideline during a game and shoved special teams coordinator Frank Ross. Ross is still with the team.

Boyd forced a fumble on the opening kick against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Playoffs. He raced over to the Texans’ sideline, ripped his helmet off, and nearly sent Ross to the ground.

The Chiefs recovered, and Boyd was flagged for “unsportsmanlike conduct” for his helmet.

“I don’t think he was pushing Frank in a disrespectful manner,” Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans told reporters, per ESPN and the Associated Press in January. “I think it was moreso he was fired up — overly fired up — and thought he made a play to help us. So that narrative that he’s pushing a coach, that’s incorrect.”

Boyd admitted afterward that he was “too fired up” over the play. He later apologized to Ross for the shove.
