Former UFC fighter Molly McCann made her boxing debut in Belfast on Saturday night – with her opponent landing an MMA kick on her during the fight.
McCann spent seven years competing in UFC but after a run of four defeats in five bouts, left the world of MMA to pursue world titles in boxing.
The 35-year-old made her professional debut on the undercard of the Lewis Crocker vs Paddy Donovan card in the Northern Irish capital against opponent Kate Radomska.
McCann took control of the fight from the opening bell and continued punishing her opponent in the second round, pinning her in the corner of the ring with a serious of sharp shots upstairs.
Under huge pressure, Radomska, who has previously fought as a kickboxer, aimed a kick in McCann’s midriff to try and force her opponent back.
It had little effect on McCann however who continued the onslaught with the referee appearing to completely miss the illegal move from Radomska.
McCann stuck to her task, dropping Radomska in the fifth round before stopping the Irish fighter in the sixth and final round to seal a debut victory.

The Liverpool fighter signed with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing in July with the intention of winning a world title within eight fights.
‘I’m just pleased Molly didn’t do some sort of spin-round elbow,’ Hearn said after the fight.
‘She was fuming at the end of the round. I don’t know what Radomska was doing; the pressure was on her.’

McCann was cool and calm in her post fight interview, telling DAZN: ‘It’s been a brilliant week, I’ve had fun.
‘There’s been valuable learning lessons and I relaxed a little bit. I’ve gone 18 months without a win so there was a bit of pressure.
‘It was nice and I started to relax every round. I hurt her a few times and it’s getting used to being a pro.’
