Frank Warren forced to deny rumours Daniel Dubois has sensationally SPLIT with trainer just hours before Joshua fight

FRANK WARREN has poured cold water on the rumours that Daniel Dubois’ camp is in crisis and blamed concerns on the flu.

Ahead of his heavyweight world title war with 34-year-old Anthony Joshua, respected trainer Don Charles and first-class second Ian Duberry have been absent from the extravagant media events.

Social media on Wednesday night was brimming with rumours that coach Charles had sensationally split with the heavyweight fighter.

But Dynamite Dan’s promoter has extinguished the fuse and revealed the Pug Gym team is laid low with a nasty dose of the flu and they are wisely shielding their star student.

AJ’s trainer Ben Davison has also avoided the limelight at the grand arrivals and the media workouts.

But the Harlow trainer has been spotted keeping a low profile on the periphery, which he prefers.

Charles – who has worked wonders in the corner for Dubois in his last two wins over Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic – has not been spotted at all.

At Wednesday’s dummy training session for the cameras, AJ shadow boxed with unknown kids from his beloved Finchley ABC.

But Dubois got a proper sweat on with a decent pads session with assistant trainer Kieran Farrell.

If Charles – who rose to fame as Derek Chisora’s earliest trainer – appears at Thursday’s press conference smelling of vapour rub, then Dubois fans can grow in confidence that their man could spring an upset.

But if Dubois cuts a lonely figure again – after already being pulled out of the Peacock Gym and Shane McGuigan’s stable – it will make AJ’s assignment to become a three-time world champion look even easier.

When SunSport visited the Pug gym earlier this month and caught a couple of excellent final spars, Dubois raved about his new Borehamwood set-up.

But he made it clear that his father remains the driving – yet for many divisive – force on his career,

He told us: “My dad gives me an extra boost We are a partnership and a team, he knows the words that get to me and help me.

“When I look over into my corner and he’s there, it gives me that kick up the a***.

“It makes me fight even harder, he makes me fight to win, he makes me give it my all.”

Francis Ngannou: “Even though Joshua lost against Usyk twice and Dubois fought Usyk and almost knocked him down and almost won, I would still give this to Joshua.”
