New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch admitted the 2019 season has been “very frustrating” and put head coach Pat Shurmur and general manager Dave Gettleman on notice with a telling quote.

Bruce Beck of WNBC-TV shared Tisch’s comments on Twitter: It’s been a very frustrating season,” Tisch said. “At the end of the season John Mara and I are gonna get together and discuss the future. As partners we have to be very honest with each other about where we see this team going into the 2020 season.”

The Giants opened the season going 0-2 with Eli Manning as the starting quarterback. Then, he was benched for rookie Daniel Jones, who was a controversial No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. After two impressive wins (against bad teams), Jones started to show his rookie colors, and since then the Giants have spiraled to a 2-10 record with eight straight losses.

The offense’s issues stem first and foremost from a continued failure to build up a sustainable, talented offensive line. Defensively, the Giants are an absolute wreck. Though Gettleman has made some savvy draft choices — for instance, defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence has been superb — it’s hard to argue Gettleman has been able to provide enough pieces to field a competitive defense.

Don’t be shocked if the Giants are looking at starting from scratch at the conclusion of the 2019 season.
