Giants QB Predicted to Land With Struggling NFL Team

The New York Giants have a large quarterback room going into the 2025-26 season, which is a great thing when it comes to a team’s quarterback depth. But, do they really need all of these signal-callers? Chances are, they’ll have to unload one quarterback before the 2025-26 season kicks in.

The Giants currently have veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, rookie Jaxson Dart and hometown player Tommy DeVito in their quarterback lineup. Returning head coach Brian Daboll has been working with the players and getting them up to speed.

DeVito has been showing some impressive action during the preseason, and that could make him an ideal trade candidate for the Giants to swap with another team. It would be sad to say farewell to this hometown player, but he might find more playing time with another NFL franchise.

The Trade Window for Tommy DeVito ‘Just Swung Open’

In a piece for Gmen HQ published on Wednesday, August 13, Matt Sidney predicts that DeVito’s days with the Giants are numbered. But, it’s not for a bad reason. It’s actually because he’s been performing well in the preseason, so other teams may want him.

“After his strong outing against the Bills on Saturday, teams around the league took notice, and the Titans might be the first to pick up the phone,” Sidney notes.

Sidney adds that while the Titans recently “signed journeyman Trevor Siemian to help stabilize their quarterback room after Tim Boyle flopped in their preseason opener,” that change “doesn’t completely erase the need for another option, though, especially not if the team has serious doubts about Brandon Allen backing up first-overall pick Cam Ward.”

Sidney also says that “DeVito isn’t exactly a world-beater, but he’s better than that duo right now.”

So, it might seem far-fetched that the Giants would trade DeVito to the Titans, but it’s really not. The Giants should at least put their feelers out to see what kind of trade deal they could get for DeVito, whether it’s with the Titans or another NFL franchise. DeVito is such a believed player in New Jersey, so it would be tough to see him go, but it may be the best thing for him.

New York Giants’ Win-Loss Projection for 2025-26

Now, let’s get to the Giants actually winning games. In a feature published on Wednesday, August 13, for ESPN, the publication’s staff looks at each NFL team and predicts the win-loss record and X factor for each team. “To look at the bigger picture and just how good — or bad — every team could be this season, we turned to our ESPN Football Power Index (FPI),” they explain.

For the Giants, the ceiling is 9-8, and the floor is 4-13. Last season, the Giants were 3-14, so while a 4-13 record would be an improvement, it’s really hardly the case. Let’s hope for better numbers than either of these perditions ,because 9-8 isn’t too great, either.

So, what’s the X factor for the New York Giants? It’s left tackle Andrew Thomas. The Giants haven’t performed well with Thomas out with an injury, but ESPN notes that “he’s on pace to return for their Week 1 game at Washington, according to a league source.” Thomas’ return could be just what the Giants need to snag some wins this season.
