The New York Giants have lost rookie sensation Cam Skattebo to season-ending ankle surgery following the Week 8 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, but the team sent the dynamic running back more of a half-glass-full message as he begins his injury recovery.
“Rest, recover and reload,” the Giants’ official X account posted on October 27, with a photo of Skattebo.
The Big Blue organization added: “You’re just getting started Cam. 💙”
Cam Skattebo Sends Message to Giants Fans
Not long after the Giants‘ message, Skattebo returned the gesture, sending one of his own.
“Thank you everyone for the support!! Surgery went well,” the rookie wrote on X.
Continuing: “I just want to thank the city of Philly for taking the best care of me. Every moment I spent in the hospital with family and friends I felt loved and supported in every way❤️ thank you to the doctors, surgeons, and staff that did their best work on me.”
“This is just the beginning of my journey and I can’t wait to show you guys all about it!!!” Skattebo went on. “GOD has a plan for me , stick the course and it will all work itself out, BRB 🫡 #LFG.”
Apparently, not only did the medical personnel of Philadelphia make every effort to help and make Skattebo feel comfortable, but the Eagles did, too. They sent him and his family a classy “gift” of sorts while he was in the hospital.
Skattebo is expected to make a full recovery, but the exact timeline of his injury rehab remains to be seen. For now, the tenacious youngster will likely set his sights on Week 1 of the 2026 campaign.
Giants HC Brian Daboll Says Cam Skattebo Is in ‘Good Spirits’ Despite Major Injury
Head coach Brian Daboll addressed the media on Monday morning, and he was asked about Skattebo and his current mental state after the devastating “dislocated ankle” injury.
Giants reporter Madelyn Burke relayed the following on the subject: “Giants head coach Brian Daboll says he got a text from Cam Skattebo at 4:08am this morning, he’s in good spirits.”
Burke then quoted Daboll, who said that Skattebo has “an infectious personality.”
This really showed as teammates weighed in on Skattebo’s Week 8 departure.
“Mentally, he’s one of the toughest guys I’ve been around,” right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor voiced via SNY, regarding the rookie. “If anyone can come back from an injury like that and be even better, it’s him.”
Similarly, veteran defensive lineman Rakeem Nunez-Roches stated (via SNY): “It’s hard not to love a guy like [Skattebo], when you’re working so hard for something and you see a guy putting in the work and getting the results from what he’s doing.”
“It’s sad and it’s unfortunately a part of the business, but he’s made of the right stuff and he’s going to come back from this,” right guard Greg Van Roten agreed (via SNY).
And finally, quarterback Jaxson Dart said: “That’s my boy, so seeing him go down and obviously, reacting to what happened, it sucks. It’s the worst part of this game.” Dart added that he was “devastated” by Skattebo’s injury.
Clearly, the rookie playmaker has had a massive impact on this organization and locker room in a very short amount of time. He will be missed for the remainder of the 2025 season.
