The New York Giants need all the help they can get this season, and hopefully they have it in the roster of players they’re putting together for their 2025-26 run. The Giants had a dismal 3-14 record for the 2024-25 run, and they were easily last in the NFC East last season, so this season is really a make or break one for head coach Brian Daboll and the team.
Unfortunately, the Giants have the most difficult schedule in the league this season, which is so wild. But, they also have a new quarterback room with veteran Russell Wilson, veteran Jameis Winston, rookie Jaxson Dart and returning signal-called Tommy DeVito. Now, on top of having a fresh quarterback class, the Giants have one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. It should come as a huge sigh of relief that New York has bragging rights with this important position.
Giants Wide Receiver Named One of the Best
We’re talking about New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers, who was a rookie last season and impressed the league. In a feature, published on Wednesday, July 16, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN notes names the best wide receivers in the NFL, as determined by executives, coaches and scouts.
Nabers lands at No. 7 on the tally, which is fantastic for a player going into their second year. This was simply a stellar pick from Daboll.
“Easily the Giants’ best draft pick of the Brian Daboll-Joe Schoen era, Nabers will lead the charge for New York as it transitions at quarterback with Russell Wilson as the bridge and Jaxson Dart as the future,” Fowler states in the piece.
A NFL personnel evaluator said of Nabers, “He can go 0 to 60 in three seconds like a Ferrari, but he’s built like a truck. And he’s not even an elite route runner yet. Just wait until that happens.” A defense coach in the NFC had some special observations about Nabers, stating, “Some guys are just different. You don’t have to watch him long to know that.”
The top honor for the best wide receiver in the league, according to ESPN, is Ja’Marr Chase of the Cincinnati Bengals. “More explosion, better after the catch, more powerful — that’s where he gets his edge,” one NFL personnel evaluator said in the piece.
More Praise for Malik Nabers
Nabers is generally respected in the NFL this season. Back in May, Trevor Sikkema of PFF named him the No. 12 best wide receiver in the league. He sang Nabers’ praises and called his rookie season “outstanding.”
“Nabers was outstanding in his rookie season despite inconsistent quarterback play,” Sikkema stated . “He earned an 87.1 receiving grade — ninth best in the league — and averaged 2.17 yards per route run, an impressive mark for a first-year receiver that suggests even greater production as the offense improves around him.”
So, Nabers is attracting attention around the league, and he’ll be one of the players to usher the Giants into a new era of football. Let’s hope that new era puts the team back on top of the NFC East.
