The New York Giants will have several decisions to make once the 2026 offseason rolls around.
Of course, the head coaching search will come first, but after that, there are a number of impending free agents that Joe Schoen will have to decide on.
Among them, wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson, the team’s second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Robinson is having himself a year and is on pace to break through 1,000 receiving yards for the first time in his career.
Should the Giants make Robinson a priority re-signing before he tests unrestricted free agency?
Bleacher Report Urges Giants to Re-Sign Wan’Dale Robinson
According to Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox, the New York Giants should prioritize bringing back Robinson, thanks to the rapport he’s built up with quarterback Jaxson Dart.
“It would seem that the New York Giants have found their quarterback of the future in rookie Jaxson Dart. Putting the necessary pieces around him should be a top priority for general manager Joe Schoen and whoever New York’s next coach might be,” wrote Knox.
“Wan’Dale Robinson is finally beginning to look like the sort of centerpiece player the Giants should keep. It’s worth noting that he’s gotten more opportunities in the wake of Malik Nabers‘ season-ending injury, but the fact that he’s already set a career-high in receiving yards while averaging an impressive 12 yards per catch is equally noteworthy.”
“Still only 24 years old, Robinson can be New York’s No. 2 receiver opposite Nabers for the long haul. The Giants must avoid competing with receiver-needy teams for his services in free agency.”
Robinson does most of his work from the slot, while star wide receiver Malik Nabers has shown the ability to be an elite outside threat.
The two complement each other well, and adding in another pass-catching option this offseason would provide Dart with a solid group of weapons heading into his sophomore season in the NFL.
But the fact of the matter is, the decision will be up to Robinson, and if he decides he would prefer a change of scenery, there isn’t much the Giants can do about it.
Wan’Dale Robinson Reportedly Planning on Testing Free Agency
In a recent interview with The Trentonian’s Greg Johnson, Robinson indicated that he is planning on testing free agency, while also not ruling out a return to the New York Giants.
“I haven’t tried to think about that too much at this point. Right now I’m just trying to get through this year healthy, and at the end of the day, win as many games as we can to finish off this year. We’ll see where we’re at whenever those things come,” Robinson told Johnson.
“I think we’ll probably just stick it out and just go to free agency and just kind of go from there. Obviously I can’t predict the future. We’ll see what happens from there, but I think right now it’s just gonna be a free agency thing.”
In the midst of his career year, it makes sense that Robinson would want to know what his value is on the open market before agreeing on anything with the Giants.
The Kentucky product has been projected to earn a four-year $60 million deal from Spotrac, and it could be too high of a price tag for the Giants to cough up.
After all, they have needs to address on the offensive line and on their defense.
