Giants’ Urged to Re-Sign Top Jaxson Dart Weapon Ahead of 2026

The New York Giants have arguably the most important piece to any football team.

A potential franchise quarterback.

In his short stint as Big Blue’s starter, rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart has shown flashes of brilliance, completing 62.5% of his passes for 1,802 yards, 13 touchdowns, and four interceptions in 11 appearances.

He’s even proven he’s a threat on the ground, carrying the ball 70 times for 400 yards and seven rushing touchdowns.

The onus is now on the Giants to surround Dart with as much talent as possible to help continue his development, which includes building up the offensive line and supplying him with weapons to lean on.

Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo are great pieces, but they’re both currently on season-ending injured reserve and haven’t played with Dart in months.

But his current leading receiver, Wan’Dale Robinson, is set to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and letting him walk out the door would be a big mistake.

Giants Urged to Re-Sign Wan’Dale Robinson

ESPN’s New York Giants reporter Jordan Raanan pleaded his case for New York to re-sign their 2022 second-round pick.

“He’s the Giants’ top receiver this season and was a second-round pick in 2022. Robinson has proven this season that he can play inside and outside, though he leads all receivers with 505 yards out of the slot,” wrote Raanan.

“But he could be costly after Buffalo’s Khalil Shakir signed a deal worth up to $15 million per year this past offseason. But the Giants can’t afford to lose any playmaker as they try to build around quarterback Jaxson Dart.”

Since Nabers went down with a torn ACL in Week 4, Robinson has stepped up as the No. 1 receiver in New York.

He’s currently having a career year, hauling in 78 receptions for 882 yards and four touchdowns.

An impending free agent, Robinson is going to have the ability to test the open market.

After all, the Giants are unlikely to use the franchise tag on the former Kentucky standout. Over The Cap projects the wide receiver tag to be around $28 million.

Considering his numbers and lack of previous extension conversation with New York’s front office, it makes sense that Robinson is leaning towards testing free agency rather than signing a deal before his rookie contract is up.

Wan’Dale Robinson Leaning Towards Testing Free Agency

In a November interview with Greg Johnson of the Trentonian, Robinson revealed that he was interested in testing the open market next spring.

“I haven’t tried to think about that too much at this point. Right now I’m just trying to get through this year healthy, and at the end of the day, win as many games as we can to finish off this year. We’ll see where we’re at whenever those things come,” Robinson said.

“I think we’ll probably just stick it out and just go to free agency and just kind of go from there. Obviously I can’t predict the future. We’ll see what happens from there, but I think right now it’s just gonna be a free agency thing.”

While not ruling out a return to the New York Giants, Robinson indicated that the market will dictate where he ends up playing in 2026.

Considering the current crop of impending free agent wide receivers, the former Kentucky Wildcat may be a hot commodity.
