Giants Veterans Send Warning to QB Jaxson Dart Before Eagles Game

The New York Giants are turning the page after their catastrophic meltdown in Week 7 against the Denver Broncos that saw them suffer a crushing 33-32 loss. Things won’t be much easier for the team in Week 8, as they will be on the road at Lincoln Financial Field for their upcoming matchup Philadelphia Eagles.

Ever since taking over under center, Jaxson Dart has helped make the Giants look like a completely different team. And while he already defeated the Eagles earlier this month, he’s going to face arguably the biggest challenge of his young career playing in front of their hostile fanbase. Ahead of this game, Dart received warnings from wide receiver Darius Slayton and tight end Daniel Bellinger on what he should expect from this matchup.

Darius Slayton, Daniel Bellinger Warn Jaxson Dart About Eagles Clash

Back in Week 6, the Giants handed the Eagles a stunning upset defeat on Thursday Night Football, with the final score coming in at 34-17. Dart and fellow rookie Cam Skattebo led a dominant ground game that Philly simply couldn’t contain, and it led to one of the more surprising results of the young season.

Just two weeks later, these two teams will be squaring off again, and you can by Philadelphia is looking for revenge. Making an already challenging task for Dart when it comes to squaring off against the Eagles again is the fact that this game will be played on the road. And according to Slayton, while that presents some new issues for the team, it also presents an opportunity for them to further embrace their underdog status.

“It feels hostile,” Slayton said when speaking about playing in Philadelphia. “It feels like you’re on the wrong side of town. But in a football game, you kind of like it that way … We came over here, we’re gonna try to cause a ruckus.”

Slayton isn’t the only guy who knows what to expect when he steps foot on Lincoln Financial Field. Bellinger is also familiar with what the Eagles and their fans are capable of, and he advised Dart to lean on his teammates and the coaching staff throughout this game, because the outside world is going to try to do everything it can to get in the rookie quarterback’s head.

“You know you got to stick close to your brothers in the locker room, just kind of stay as tight as one group because that team and that fan base, they’re going to get a little gritty on the sidelines,’’ Bellinger said, per Paul Schwartz of The New York Post. “I would tell him, ‘Listen, focus on you, focus on the team and stick together and not worry about the outside noise.’”

Dart has said ahead of this game that he’s excited about taking on the Eagles on their home field, but his teammates want him to understand that he’s set to face a challenge different from the ones he’s faced over the past few games. If he doesn’t take it seriously, New York could fall flat on its face after its disappointing loss in Week 7.

And yet, Dart has looked calm, cool, and collected in every situation he’s found himself in early in his NFL career. He already has a win against the Eagles, which should help boost his confidence, but that alone isn’t going to help him win football games. It’s going to require a full team effort, and Dart will be looking to add another upset victory to his ledger when he leads New York into battle at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon against Philadelphia.
