Green Bay Packers HC Dismisses Potential Trade of Third-Year 15 TD Wide Receiver

The Green Bay Packers are doing everything in their power to shut down these trade rumors. On a team where they have plenty of wide receivers with none acting as WR1, Matt LaFleur had a chance to debunk the rumors.

Plenty of speculation has been going around about the Nevada graduate’s future. Jordan Love has leaned on No. 87 a lot through his three-years in Green Bay, leaving no room for the 2022 No. 132 overall pick to be traded.

Matt LaFleur Denies All Rumors of a Potential Romeo Doubs Trade

Kay Adams had the chance to visit Green Bay in her final destination ahead of the regular season. Kenny Clark spoke to her about the viral training camp fight, Josh Jacobs opened up, and Love hinted at a Micah Parsons trade. Ultimately, LaFleur bashed the potential of Romeo Doubs going anywhere.

“I’d be very shocked if he was ever going anywhere,” LaFleur said. No, that will not happen.”

The Packers head coach added, “Rome is out there competing and doing everything we need to see from him. Obviously he’s played a lot of ball for us at a high level. He’s been a great teammate and he goes out there and you can count on him everyday.”

A rumored trade to the New York Jets saw Green Bay receive a 4th round pick for Doubs. Packers fans seemed to dismiss the idea as well, though Freddie Boston of Lombardi Ave would jump on the trade. Heading into the 2026 draft, the Packers already have one pick in each of the seven rounds.

Recently, Bleacher Report proposed the Packers trade Doubs to the Los Angeles Chargers for a 2026 seventh-round pick. Comparing the Chargers trade to the Jets offer, it’s understandable to see why Boston would move him to New York. Regardless, LaFleur made his thoughts crystal clear.

Romeo Doubs Doesn’t Seem to be Going Anywhere

Even though Adams tried to get something out of LaFleur, he quickly dismissed the fact that Doubs could play for a different team this season. After three strong years in Green Bay, LaFleur has all of the confidence in the world in his 25-year-old receiver.

Doubs wears a guardian cap as he dealt with concussion issues last season. The team isn’t worried about his progress or long-term future as he still put up 601 yards in 14 games last season. A few personal issues kept him out of action as well, though it clearly didn’t phase him when he was back out on the field.

Jayden Reed’s involvement these past two seasons has only made Doubs’ presence more important. While Reed has one fewer touchdown in one less season, that doesn’t take away from what Doubs has done on the field. Green Bay is looking to get Doubs back to his 2023 season where he played all 17 games and was targeted 96 times.

Held to just two receptions for 13 yards against the Philadelphia Eagles in the playoffs, most remember Doubs’ two touchdown game against the Seattle Seahawks. Knowing the scuffle against them at practice on Thursday, August 21, it’s quite timely to bring up that game. It marked Doubs return to action for the first time in nearly a month.
