Gunner Stockton is the quarterback for the Georgia Bulldogs. The 2025 season serves as his first full season as the starting signal caller, although his experience dates back to last year’s Sugar Bowl against Notre Dame, where he made his first Georgia start with Carson Beck sidelined due to injury.

Gunner Stockton is a Georgia Bulldog through and through, as he grew up in a family full of Georgia fans. He’s 6 ft 1 inch, 215 pounds, and 21 years old.

Here are some facts you need to know about Gunner Stockton and his family.

Gunner Stockton Was an All-American Athlete at Rabun County

Gunner Stockton attended Rabun County, which is an athletic powerhouse high school up in the northeast Georgia mountains. He was born in Tiger, Georgia.

He was an All-American baseball player, but found his calling as a quarterback. In 2020, with Rabun County, Stockton threw for 3,128 yards and 45 touchdowns and ran for 1,581 yards. At that time, Stockton had been committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks due to the coaches Will Muschamp and Mike Bobo.

However, Stockton flipped his commitment when Bobo and Muschamp had been relieved of their duties at South Carolina.

As a senior in 2021, Stockston propelled into the spotlight on the Georgia High School football scene. He led Rabun County to the state playoff quarterfinals again with a 12–2 record while throwing for 4,134 yards, 55 touchdowns, and only one interception, being named All-State for the fourth time in his career and being named the Gatorade Georgia Player of the Year.

Gunner Stockton’s Mom and Dad

Both of Gunner Stockton’s parents were collegiate athletes. His dad, Rob Stockton, was a football player at Georgia Southern.

Stockton’s mom, Sherri, played basketball at Erskine College. His grandfather, Lawrence, is an alumnus of the University of Georgia. Lawrence played a big role in Gunner’s life, as his life continues to be a beacon of inspiration and grit.

Gunner’s Grandfather’s Tragic Death

In a story that was released just this year, Gunner Stockton revealed that his grandfather, Lawrence Stockton, died tragically after leaving the site of Georgia-Florida’s annual rivalry game due to a heart attack in 2010.

Stockton Made Georgia History with His Legs in 2025

Gunner Stockton made Georgia history in 2025 by leading the team in rushing touchdowns. It is the first year since 1942 (Frank Sinkwitch) that a quarterback led the Bulldogs in rushing touchdowns.

Stockton’s full 2025 stats to this point: 70.7% completion, 2,691 passing yards, 23 passing TDs, 5 INT, 442 rushing yards, 8 rushing TDs.

Stockton’s Deep Roots in Georgia’s Offensive System

Although Georgia is going to be without center Drew Bobo in the Sugar Bowl, Gunner Stockton is still deeply rooted within Georgia’s offensive scheme. Offensive coordinator Mike Bobo’s dad coached Gunner in high school, and Stockton and (Drew) Bobo played together in youth football. Bobo recruited Gunner, and is a key reason why Stockton is so comfortable with the Georgia offense.
