Horrendous Practice Leads to Titans Head Coach Issuing Profanity Filled Rant

It’s safe to say that Tennessee Titans head coach, Brian Callahan, was less than pleased with his team’s performance on August 3. The second-year HC ended practice with a rant that has taken social media by storm.

The Titans elected to select Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall selection. Knowing the Will Levis situation, that pick proved to be all the more important. Ward is one of many key pieces still trying to find themselves on offense as the team’s practice didn’t go according to plan.

Brian Callahan Cusses Team Out After Putrid Practice Performance

One bad practice doesn’t dictate the direction a team is heading. However, Callahan clearly wanted to make sure that one bad practice doesn’t lead to another. Numerous Titans reporters recalled Callahan’s explicit reaction, though no one mentioned exactly what was said.

Terry McCormick mentioned, “Brian Callahan just ended Titans practice with a profanity filled tirade at his offense about how poorly they practiced today.”

A fan asked for clarification, to which McCormick confirmed the offensive line, quarterback, and pass catchers all failed to deliver. One individual commented on the team’s positive practice yesterday, citing that’s the landscape of the NFL.

Titans Reporter Breaks Down the Disappointment

JT Ruhnke took to social media to explain why Callahan was as disappointed as he was. The reporter mentioned a drop by Calvin Ridley on first down from the goal line. The next play, the former Atlanta Falcons first round draft pick was open again. This time, Ward underthrew the ball.

Ward’s struggles continued as their second drive should have ended in an interception. Sixth-year player, Amani Hooker was all over the ball. Ultimately, it fell through his hands even though he read the route perfectly.

Dan Moore Jr. would have allowed a sack on the third drive as Ward’s protection was non-existent. Adren Key had an easy route to the quarterback as the Miami graduate threw to passes that went out of bounds.

The State of the Tennessee Titans Offense

Even though Callahan compared Ward to Joe Burrow, that doesn’t indicate the Titans will be making the Super Bowl next season. Tennessee has a defense that speaks for itself, but their offense continues to hold them back.

While Ward has yet to take the field for a joint practice or preseason game, he’s had his highs and lows in training camp. The rookie quarterback had no choice but to be thrown into the mix as QB1, a position the team believed he was ready for.

The 23-year-old will have a chance to take the field on Saturday, August 9 in Tampa Bay. Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle sit behind Ward on the depth chart, not leaving the team with a ton of options if the No. 1 overall pick doesn’t pan out.

There’s no telling as to how this offense will look in the preseason. While it’s not the ultimate indicator of how the first-team will look in the regular season, it’s the perfect moment for a rookie to take the field for the first time.

Ward has shown moments of greatness in training camp, but it’ll take a lot to turn around a team that won just three games last season.
