American boxer Tramaine Williams is ‘doing well’ after he collapsed in the ring in terrifying scenes during a fight on Thursday.

Williams, 31, was taking on Ryan Allen at a Team Combat League event in California when the incident occurred in the first round.

As he rose his right arm to seemingly throw a punch, Williams froze, fell to the canvas and suffered convulsions.

The fight was immediately waved off with doctors rushing to assist him. He was later taken out of the ring on a stretcher and taken to hospital.

Team Combat League, whose president is former fighter Dewey Cooper, operates with a unique league format with franchise teams representing different cities across the US.

Williams fights for the NYC Attitude, with the team releasing a statement confirming he has since been ‘discharged from hospital’.

‘Thank you everyone for you love and support,’ a brief statement said. ‘NYC fighter Tramaine Williams was discharged from the hospital and is doing well’.

Williams himself also shared a positive update on social media, suggesting dehydration may have led to the incident.

‘I’m good, the doctor said I was too dehydrated. I’m good though,’ he wrote on Instagram.

Williams has fought 22 times as a professional, winning 20 of those bouts.

Earlier this year, Ardi Ndembo tragically died as the result of injuries he suffered at another Team Combat League event.

Ndembo was left unconscious after being knocked out by his opponent Nestor Santana in Florida in April.

The 27-year-old father of two was put in an induced coma but passed away three weeks later.

In May, British boxer Sherif Lawal also tragically died after collapsing in the ring on his professional debut.
