Andy Murray is doing everything he can to play at Wimbledon this year but his participation is still far from confirmed despite Friday’s men’s singles draw.

Murray has been struggling with a concerning injury which he recently picked up at Queen’s Club, forcing him to retire mid-match against Jordan Thompson.

The 37-year-old – who had been hoping to play Wimbledon for the final time before retirement – provided an update on his back problem on Thursday after an operation on a spinal cyst, revealing he will make a very late call on Wimbledon.

Whether he plays at this year’s Championships or not – which get underway on Monday – Murray’s legacy at Wimbledon will never be forgotten.

But exactly how many times has Andy Murray won Wimbledon in the past? Let’s take a look at Murray’s record at the All England Club…

His first victory in the iconic Grand Slam came in 2013, beating Novak Djokovic 6-4, 7-5, 6-4 in the final on Centre Court.

Murray’s triumph saw him become the first British man to win the singles title since Fred Perry did so back in 1936.

The win was Murray’s second Grand Slam title of his career following on from the US Open in 2012.

He would have to wait until 2016 to get his hands on his second Wimbledon title.

That arrived courtesy of a 6-4, 7-6, 7-6 victory over Canadian Milos Raonic in the final, in what remains his third and final Major to date.

Murray is the only British player, male or female, to have won Wimbledon more than once in the Open Era.

How many times has Andy Murray been in the Wimbledon final?

Murray has been in the Wimbledon final a total of three times.

The final he lost was against Roger Federer in 2012, succumbing to a 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-4 defeat.

After the match, Murray famously broke down in tears during his on-court interview with Sue Barker as the reality of his near-miss hit home.

However, Murray turned the tables on his great Swiss when the two met in the Olympic final at Wimbledon later that summer.

Murray won gold for Great Britain with a 6-2, 6-1, 6-4 win on Centre Court.

As well as his three appearances in the final, the Scot has reached four semi-finals on the hallowed grass; 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2015.

What is Andy Murray’s recent record at Wimbledon?

Since being knocked-out in the 2017 quarter-final by Sam Querrey, Murray has only played three times at Wimbledon before the 2024 tournament.

Murray was knocked out in the third round by Denis Shapovalov in 2021 and in the second round by John Isner in 2022.

Murray was on the wrong end of a thrilling five-setter with Stefanos Tsitsipas last year, heading for an early exit having beaten fellow Brit Ryan Peniston in straight sets in the first round.

He has a win-loss record of 61-13 at Wimbledon since making his debut in 2005.
