The Green Bay Packers are now 9-4-1 after a 34-26 loss on the road to the Denver Broncos.
The Packers have a huge NFC North showdown against the 10-4 Chicago Bears on Saturday night in Week 16, and the Bears are currently right ahead of them in the division standings.
The Packers did see superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons suffer a torn ACL, meaning he is out for the season and suddenly faces a tough battle in hopes of returning by next September.
Despite that, the Packers are pushing forward and trying to secure a playoff spot. After Week 15, even with the loss, the Packers are the No. 7 seed in the NFC and have the final Wild Card spot for the time being.
In Week 16, they have a chance to clinch a playoff berth as well.
Packers Playoff Scenarios For Week 16
On Tuesday, NFL.com revealed the playoff scenarios for each team entering Week 16.
Here is what the Packers need in order to secure a playoff berth.
- Green Bay win and Detroit loss or tie OR
- Green Bay tie and Detroit loss
The Detroit Lions face Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday in Detroit, and the Packers and the fans will once again be rooting for Rodgers in a weird twist.
With the Packers playing on Saturday night, they need to take care of business first against the Bears and then root for the Lions to lose.
If those things happen (or Green Bay has another tie somehow), then the playoff berth will be clinched with two weeks left in the regular season.
The Packers face the Baltimore Ravens and Minnesota Vikings in Weeks 17 and 18, respectively, so there is a solid chance of them getting into the postseason regardless of how things turn out this upcoming weekend.
Jordan Love Looking Forward To ‘Big’ Game vs. Bears
Despite the injury to Parsons, the Packers are trying to finish the job and, at the very least, punch their ticket to the playoffs.
After the loss to the Broncos, quarterback Jordan Love acknowledged there is much more in front of them.
“There’s still so much more out in front of us,” Love said, via team reporter Mike Spofford. “Just that mindset we have to stay together, go into this next week, a big game against the Bears in Chicago, get everybody ready for that. We’ve been there before in these tough games, and we have to stay together and keep going.”
In Week 14, the Packers defeated the Bears, 28-21, as Josh Jacobs scored the game-winning touchdown with less than four minutes remaining.
In that game, Love had three touchdowns with a 17-of-25 clip. This time, it will be in Chicago at Soldier Field, and the Bears are coming off a dominant 31-3 victory over the lowly Cleveland Browns.
If the Packers can recover the loss to the Broncos and the injury to Parsons and find a way to win at Soldier Field on Saturday night, there is a chance they walk into Monday with a playoff berth clinched going into the final two weeks.
