Huge name missing from St Leger and Irish Oaks winner supplemented as Aidan O’Brien dominates betting for final Classic

ANCIENT WISDOM is the shock name missing from the St Leger – as Irish Oaks winner You Got To Me was supplemented late on.

Aidan O’Brien dominates the market for the final Classic of the season at Doncaster on Saturday.

Illinois heads the market at 13-8 with 11-4 Jan Brueghel and 7-2 Grosvenor Square the big three for the Ballydoyle boss.

David Menuisier’s Sunway is the best of the rest at 6-1.

Ralph Beckett’s filly You Got To Me – last seen finishing runner-up to Content in the Yorkshire Oaks – was a late addition at a cost of £50,000.

But Charlie Appleby be without a runner after Godolphin decided Ancient Wisdom would be campaigned elsewhere.

A statement on their official X account read: “Ancient Wisdom will not be confirmed for the @DoncasterRaces St Leger Stakes at today’s five-day stage.

“The horse is in good form, but will instead be aimed at an Autumn campaign with his favoured ground conditions.”

Los Angeles was confirmed at the five-day stage but looks likely to take his place in the Irish Champion Stakes on the same day before a tilt at the Arc in October.

If, as expected, he is not declared then don’t be surprised to see the odds shorten further, especially for Owen Burrows’ Deira Mile.

The Derby fourth was identified as a St Leger type after his staying-on run in the Epsom feature.

O’Brien is also set to saddle outsiders The Equator and Euphoric, who could set the pace for the big three.

Charlie Johnston will look to cause a shock with three-time winner this season Align The Stars, who was last seen finishing eighth of nine in the Lonsdale Cup.

While Andrew Balding’s Wild Waves could also line up having gone down narrowly at York last time out.
