Ian Garry and Belal Muhammad Trade Verbal Jabs Online

While Ian Garry and Belal Muhammad can’t agree on a date, both fighters have made it clear that they’re eager to throw down.

Muhammad had been looking to secure a fight with Kamaru Usman;  however, several weeks back, he opened the door to a bout with Garry at Madison Square Garden in November with a post on social media.

This week, Muhammad circled back around to the fight while speaking with MMAJunkie, indicating that while he would like to fight Kamaru Usman, if the former pound-for-pound kingpin doesn’t want to fight, then he’s ready to move on and throw down with either Garry or Sean Brady.

On Saturday, Garry fired back in a video shared on social media, calling on the former champ to agree to a fight on the UFC 319 card in August.

As Garry explained, had Muhammad defeated Jack Della Maddalena back in May, the two likely would have fought in Muhammad’s hometown of Chicago.

“Belal Muhammad is continuing to call out Kamaru Usman. Kamaru Usman has said himself that he’s not fighting anytime soon. So why does he keep calling him out? Because he’s avoiding me. He’s now started to mention Sean Brady’s name again. A man who he’s already knocked out.

“Imagine calling out someone you’ve already knocked out. Here’s the truth. Had Belal beat JDM, he would be fighting me in his hometown of Chicago. So do the right thing. Don’t let your hometown down and accept the fight in Chicago. I’ll see you soon.”

Belal Muhammad Claps Back at Ian Garry

Shortly after Ian Garry shared his video on Instagram, the former champ fired back with a tongue-in-cheek video of his own where he read off an AI-generated script.

“lan Garry out here trying to do Conor cosplay with Dollar Tree trash talk. Bro, your lines hit softer than your jab. You sound like a teenager who just discovered McGregor highlight reels.

“You wanna ‘out-box’ me? Try out-talking me first without embarrassing yourself. Until then, go back to rehearsing in the mirror — maybe one day your trash talk will be as sharp as your barber’s fade.”

In the caption, Muhammad doubled down on his desire to fight in November at the Madison Square Garden

Dana White Indicates Makhachev-JDM Could Headline MSG Card

Belal Muhammad isn’t the only fighter looking to fight on the Madison Square Garden card in November.

Following his win over Sugar Sean O’Malley, Merab Dvalishvili indicated that he would like to fight on the card. Similarly, Dan Hooker revealed this week on Submission Radio that he’s hoping the event will play host to his big return.

Given the magnitude of the card, fans are eagerly awaiting news regarding the main event.

While speaking with Helen Yee following Power Slap 13 last month, Dana White suggested that a fight between Islam Makhachev and Jack Della Maddalena is the exact sort of fight that will headline the Madison Square Garden card.

“100 percent. It’s always special when you go into New York and go into The Garden. I think a fight like that would do very well there.”

As we’ve seen in the past, on occasion, the UFC will book two title fights for one card. Given that other champions like Merab Dvalishvili, Tom Aspinall, Alexander Volkanovski, Magomed Ankalaev, and now Ilia Topuria are all eager to defend their respective titles before the end of the year, the UFC may wind up booking a championship double-header for the ages.
