Iconic American rock band set to perform at Champions League final this season

It has been announced that iconic American rock band Linkin Park will perform at the Champions League final this season.

Linkin Park reformed in September with Emily Armstrong on vocals and are known for a number of hit songs, including ‘Numb’ and ‘Crawling’.

The alternative rock group, led by Mike Shinoda, were previously on an indefinite hiatus due to Chester Bennington’s suicide in 2017.

Bennington previously served as lead vocalist for the Nu Metal legends before his death eight years ago.

Since their reformation, they’ve enjoyed continued success, with ‘The Emptiness Machine’ landing No.4 spot on the UK singles chart last year.

‘With our new album and ongoing tour, we’ve been overwhelmed by the fans’ energy and excitement,’ Linkin Park said in a statement.

‘We can’t wait to share that same energy and excitement at the UEFA Champions League Final Kick Off Show presented by Pepsi.

‘This marks a totally new experience for us as a band, and we’re excited to share some of our favourite songs from the past and present, with the thousands in the crowd and millions watching around the world.’

Linkin Park first rose to international fame in 2000 with their debut album ‘Hybrid Theory’.

The band have since sold over 100 million albums and 30 million singles worldwide.

Linkin Park will now take to the stage at the Allianz Arena in Germany on May 31 for a performance ahead of kick off in the Champions League final.

Their performance is set to include a new version of ‘Numb’, which will blend the riffs from the song with sounds inspired by Champions League football.

Lenny Kravitz performed at last season’s Champions League final as Real Madrid defeated Borussia Dortmund at Wembley.

It is estimated that 450 million people watched the 2024 Champions League final, with the match regularly pulling in large TV audiences.
