The Indiana Pacers are finally getting healthy. After being the most injured team in the NBA during the first week of the season, they have slowly been bringing players back. Now, they have to make some decisions with disabled player exceptions set to expire.
In the last couple of weeks, the Pacers have gotten Andrew Nembhard, T.J. McConnell, and Bennedict Mathurin back. All of those players are key members of their rotation. With those players now back in the fold, they had to make a decision on Jeremiah Robinson-Earl.

Indiana Pacers Sign Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, Release Monte Morris
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Pacers have decided to sign Robinson-Earl to a standard, non-guaranteed deal now that his disabled player exception has expired. In order to make room for him on the roster, Indiana decided to release Monte Morris.
Morris was brought in when both Nembhard and McConnell were hurt, as well as third-string point guard Quenton Jackson. Morris played in six games for the Pacers before being released. With Nembhard and McConnell back, there is no need for him.
Robinson-Earl has been a forward in the rotation ever since the Pacers brought him in. In the ten games he’s played for the Pacers, he’s averaging 20.3 minutes per game. He has even started three games for Indiana, providing much-needed rebounding.
Indiana will likely keep Robinson-Earl for a while. Obi Toppin won’t return until February, and Johnny Furphy doesn’t have a timeline to return. Until either of those two players gets healthy, the Pacers need help at the forward spot.

The Pacers Finally Win Their Second Game
The Pacers made this decision on the heels of finally winning their second game of the season, taking down the Hornets. Indiana was up by as much as 24 points in the victory. They believe that they can make a run now that they have some key scorers back in the lineup.
Keeping Robinson-Earl on the roster gives the Pacers size and rebounding at the forward spot that will be needed off the bench moving forward. If he can keep rebounding and making wide-open 3’s, Indiana might claw their way back into the 10-seed.
The Pacers still sit second-to-last in the Eastern Conference standings.
