Tyrese Haliburton’s girlfriend Jade Jones may be part of the most coveted text thread among NBA and WNBA fans alike. During the NBA Finals, new details emerged about Haliburton’s strong friendship with Caitlin Clark.
It turns out this friendship also extends to Jones and Clark’s boyfriend Connor McCaffery who has a close relationship with Haliburton. Jones, Clark, Haliburton and McCaffrey are part of an active group text, per ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne.
“At this point in the postseason, very few people get through to Haliburton on his cell, much less get a response,” Shelburne detailed in a June 13, 2025, feature story titled, “NBA Finals 2025: Tyrese Haliburton, Caitlin Clark and the most powerful friendship in basketball.” “But there’s one group chat that’s always active, and Haliburton wasn’t about to miss all the chatter on this night.
“There are four people in the group: Haliburton, his longtime girlfriend Jade Jones, Indiana Fever superstar guard Caitlin Clark, and her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery.”

Both Haliburton and Jones attended college at Iowa State, a major rival of Iowa where Clark was the face of the program. Despite the rivalry, Jones had no problem cheering on Clark, but Haliburton needed more convincing given his connection to the Cyclones.
“As the season went on and it was clear the Fever would have a good chance at landing Clark with the No. 1 pick, Haliburton finally relented,” Shelburne wrote.
“Jones is from Iowa and had turned into a huge Clark fan as Clark rewrote the record books in college. Eventually Haliburton decided to shift allegiances. They all went out to dinner and have been good friends ever since.”
Haliburton had a close friendship with McCaffrey, who previously worked for the Indiana Pacers. Despite this friendship, Haliburton held strong in his contempt for Iowa but had to relent once Clark was drafted by the Indiana Fever.
“Me and Connor would talk all the time about (Clark’s) journey,” Haliburton told Shelburne. “But I refused to cheer for Caitlin until she got out of college because I’m not cheering for Iowa.”

Clark was not as hard to convince in regards to rooting for the Pacers. Not only do the Fever and Pacers share the same arena, but Clark already had a connection to Indiana given McCaffrey’s time with the franchise. The Pacers are a perfect 8-0 during the NBA playoffs when Clark attends the team’s home games.
Back in November, Jones, Clark and Haliburton were all spotted attending a Butler basketball game together, where McCaffrey now is part of the coaching staff. As for Haliburton and Jones, the couple celebrated their sixth anniversary in April.
After the Pacers won Game 3 against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Jones took to Instagram to share a five-word message.
“Two down two to go,” Jones posted in a June 12, Instagram Story alongside a photo of the Larry O’Brien Trophy which is awarded to the NBA champion.
Jones is likely hoping that their text thread with Clark soon receives a photo of Haliburton holding this trophy.
