Insider Reveals Big Update on Lamar Jackson Heading Into Week 8

The Baltimore Ravens face a must-win game of massive proportions on Sunday. Coming off their bye week, they host the Bears, who are riding a four-game win streak in their own right. Meanwhile, the Ravens sit at 1-5 in what’s been a rough start to the season for Baltimore — and that would be putting it mildly.

The Ravens entered the year as one of the favorites for the Super Bowl, led by two-time MVP QB Lamar Jackson. With Jackson in the fold, some fresh blood on defense, and one of the best running backs in the league in Derrick Henry, Baltimore was poised to once again be one of the kings of the AFC, with their sights set on breaking through to a Super Bowl appearance.

Injuries have played a big part in the Ravens struggles, as the team has been beset by a long run of serious injuries to their stars. Jackson, LB Roquan Smith, LT Ronnie Stanley, DT Nnamdi Madubuike, CB Marlon Humphrey, CB Chidobe Awuzie, and ED Adisa Isaac are just some of the key Ravens who have missed games this year. Smith should be back against the Bears, but Madubuike is done for the year.

Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson Could Return in Week 8

On Sports Center on Saturday morning, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler shared a monumental update on Jackson’s health. Though Jackson has now missed several games with a hamstring injury, he returned to practice this week coming off the bye, and is listed as questionable against the Bears.

“The people I spoke to with the Ravens feel a lot better about Lamar’s chances after Friday’s practice — because he was throwing dimes on the field,” Fowler said. “There was a relief, a sense of like, ‘hey, we got this thing back. We got number eight in the lineup, potentially.’”

“And I’m told he is considered internally a game-time decision, unless head coach John Harbaugh changes that in the next 24 hours or so,” Fowler continued. “But there’s been some optimism that he can get out there this weekend and return to the lineup. So it seems to be trending in the right direction, we’ll see.”

The Baltimore Ravens Can Still Get Their Season Back on Track

As unlikely as it seems, the Ravens haven’t been eliminated from playoff contention yet. 1-5 is a brutal record, but with games against the Bears, Dolphins, Vikings, Browns, and Jets coming up, Baltimore could go on a bit of a win streak and get back to .500 (or better) over this next stretch.

Even the AFC North isn’t entirely out of reach just yet. The Steelers are sitting at 4-2, three games up on the Ravens. But Baltimore still has five division games left, including a pair of games each with the Steelers and Bengals. With Jackson back under center and a little more injury luck, the Ravens can still come back and win this division — they just have no more margin for error.
