Insider Reveals Joe Burrow Trade Price, Jets Named as Suitor

If Joe Burrow is going to get traded by the Cincinnati Bengals, the price would be exorbitant.

NFL Insider Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports revealed what that could look like.

“The floor for any such deal would seemingly be the Deshaun Watson trade from 2022. The Browns sent three first-round picks, two second-rounders, and one third to the Texans to acquire Watson (and a sixth-round pick),” Jones wrote.

“But even that wasn’t enough for one AFC team executive, who told CBS Sports a ‘Ricky Williams type’ of trade would have to transpire. That was when the Saints traded their entire 1999 draft, plus two future first-round picks, to Washington in order to move up seven spots and select the Texas running back,” Jones added.

If the Bengals were ever going to pull the trigger on a potential trade, the New York Jets figure to be very much in that conversation.

“No team has more draft capital than the Jets. Gang Green has two first-round and two second-round picks in 2026. In 2027, the Jets have three first-round picks. The five combined picks — one of which is currently the No. 5 pick in April — would be enough to acquire nearly any player in the NFL if he were made available,” Jones said.

The NFL Is a League of the Haves and the Have Nots

Bluntly, the Jets don’t have a franchise quarterback. Quite frankly, they have had very few of those throughout their troubled history as an organization.

The Watson or even Ricky Williams trade packages for Burrow in a hypothetical world would be massive prices to pay.

However, what do the Jets have to lose?

Craig Carton recently proposed a blockbuster, crazy trade idea for the Jets to go get Patrick Mahomes from the Kansas City Chiefs.

The offer was four first-round picks and a second-round pick for Mahomes. A wild offer that the Chiefs would decline.

Tyrone Johnson, Carton’s co-host on “The Craig Carton Show”, pointed out that the Jets stink at drafting historically, so “you still have to make that phone call.”

While there is truth to that, the real reason to consider doing something crazy if you’re the Jets is that there are two types of teams in the NFL. Teams that have quarterbacks and teams that don’t.

If you don’t have a quarterback, you’re swimming in a circle in the middle of the ocean. You’re irrelevant.

The Jets had two former first-team All-Pros on defense in Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams. Yet they still stunk and couldn’t consistently win games. Why? The Jets haven’t had a quarterback.

The rest of your team can be talented and have good players, but it doesn’t matter unless you get the QB position right.

The Jets Have Failed in Every Single Possible Way in QB Acquisition Department

Gang Green has attempted to trade for a big-name player (Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre). They have tried selecting a QB high in the draft and developing them (Sam Darnold, Zach Wilson, and Mark Sanchez). The Jets have tried signing a player in free agency (Justin Fields).

Nothing has worked.

So what’s the plan in 2026? Throw the kitchen sink.

Don’t pigeonhole yourself and say we have to do the trade route or we have to do the draft etc. The Jets need to have an open mind in this process and just get the best guy regardless of the avenue.

If that’s a Burrow blockbuster — swell. A trade up to the No. 1 overall pick? Works for me. Just get it right.
