The New York Jets have a big problem on offense.
ESPN’s Rich Cimini said, “It’s painfully obvious they need another WR to complement Garrett Wilson. Nothing that happens tonight will change that. Curious to see if GM Darren Mougey addresses this need as the roster cutdown approaches.”

Insider Doesn’t Expect Jets to Make a Move at WR
Despite the need, the Jets aren’t expected to make any big moves for a pass catcher.
“Hunch is that he’ll stand pat and ride with Josh Reynolds and the young WRs,” Cimini explained.
The two biggest names at wide receiver left in free agency are Amari Cooper and Gabe Davis.
At varying points this offseason, NFL analysts have linked Cooper and Davis to the green and white.
While both players have major credentials, the Jets have seemed unwilling to add a splashy free agent over the summer.
Names to Watch in Jets-Giants Preseason Game
If the Jets aren’t going to add any names from outside the building, then it’ll be on the current roster to step up.
On Saturday, August 16, the Jets will play against the New York Giants in Week 2 of the preseason. This is typically labeled the dress rehearsal for the regular season.
“That said, I’m still intrigued by Brandon Smith and rookie Arian Smith. They’ll get lots of run tonight,” Cimini predicted.
Social Media Info on Smith’s Moments at Jets Camp
“WR Brandon Smith has been making plays since OTAs. That’s one guy I probably haven’t talked about enough. I like where he’s at, & he’s steadily improving on a daily basis,” head coach Aaron Glenn said via Jets content creator Harrison Glaser.

“Jets WR Brandon Smith working in a drill today. The Iowa product has made a lot of plays in camp this summer,” Jets reporter Dan Leberfeld shared on social media.

This isn’t the first time that Smith has made plays in training camp. Last year, Smith made waves in camp and during preseason games.
Despite some of the splashes, Smith did not make the final 53-man roster. He is looking to change that this time around.

Arian Smith Has Continued to Make Waves for the Jets
Smith, 23, was much maligned for his drop issues in college. However, since coming to the green and white, that hasn’t been a problem.
I was at Tuesday’s Jets-Giants joint practice on August 12. Smith made a few plays. After the practice session in an isolated VIP area, fans told Smith that they wanted to see him use his elite speed for some big plays.
Smith stopped in his tracks, made eye contact with the fans, smiled, and then winked while responding, “We don’t show that in practice.”
The implication was that those sorts of big plays will be saved for the regular season so they can catch opponents off guard.
