Justin Fields will make his preseason debut for the New York Jets on Saturday, August 9, against the Green Bay Packers.
ESPN’s Rich Cimini took to social media to explain what expectations should be for Fields in this contest.
“Justin Fields doesn’t need to light up Lambeau; you just want to see a smooth operation — good tempo, no pre-snap penalties, some rhythm in the passing game, a few first downs. Start with a low bar,” Cimini said.
A few things to watch for #Jets at #Packers (Saturday, 8 pm):

The Coaching Staff Reveals What They Want From Their Players in the Preseason
The starters for the Jets will play in the first preseason game, but it’s unclear for how long.
Head coach Aaron Glenn explained to the media what he is hoping to see from his players during their opportunities:
“You know what, every time we go on the grass, the first thing I expect is to win. I do, but I expect to win in ways that we really talk about, of what we are trying to create during camp. I don’t want to ever go out in a game and everything that we talk about, trying to build as far as how we are trying to get this team to operate. I want to make sure that it’s showing up on the tape. If that makes sense. That is important to me. Listen, I want the score to be in our favor, I do, but more or less, anything I want the things that we are trying to create to show up like every play that we are out there. That is what I’m looking for,” Glenn said.

Coach Glenn Gets a Little Testy With the Media Ahead of Preseason
One of the fun subplots of the offseason has been the daily and weekly battles between Coach Glenn and the media.
On this week’s edition, coach Glenn announced that his starters would play in the preseason.
A media member followed up by asking the reason for that decision, Glenn quickly responded, “Because I want to play. That’s the reason.”
Another media member tried asking about the importance of Fields getting these reps and how that factored in, but he was cut off by Glenn.
“I wanted the guys to play, that is the reason,” Glenn said.

Preseason Prediction for Fields Ahead of Jets Debut
Glenn didn’t reveal exactly how long his starters will play in this game.
Here is my prediction, specifically for Justin Fields and the rest of the offense. If they drive right down the field and score a touchdown, I think that’ll wrap up their action.
However, if we get, let’s say, a three-and-out, I believe Fields will come back out for another series or two.
The variables, Coach Glenn said, will determine exactly how long they play. For the Jets, it’s about getting the kinks out before we reach the Week 1 season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The clock is ticking.
