Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers requested a trade on Monday, August 25.
NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero shared the news on social media that Meyers informed the team of his thoughts after meeting with members of the front office.
NFL Insider Dianna Russini responded on social media to the trade rumors by naming the New York Jets, along with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Minnesota Vikings, as teams scouring “the veteran wide receiver market ahead of roster cutdown day.”

Meyers Has a Beef With the Raiders Regarding His Contract Situation
Las Vegas has “no plans” to trade Meyers, according to NFL Network, citing his “value.”
The two sides “attempted to negotiate a new contract, but could not come to terms,” Rapoport explained.
Meyers, 28, is entering the final year of his $33 million contract. Tashan Reed of The Athletic said on X previously Twitter that Meyers is set to make a $10.5 million base salary in 2025.
What Is the Real Number That He Is Looking For?
Meyers wants a raise, but how much money are we talking about here?
“He projects toward a 2 year, $60M extension in our system,” Spotrac posted.

That $30 million annual salary in new money would rank No. 8 among the highest-paid wide receivers in football, per Over The Cap.
However, national writer Moe Moton of Bleacher Report, who covers the Raiders, said he doesn’t see “any team” paying Meyers $32 million per year like Terry McLaurin got from the Washington Commanders.
Instead, he predicted that Meyers’ new deal will pay him “somewhere between $20-$23M/year.”
That annual salary projection would place Meyers in the No. 18 to No. 23 range of the highest-paid receivers, per Over The Cap.
I don’t see Meyers getting $32M/year from any team with one 1,000-plus-yard season. McLaurin has 5 consecutive 1,000+ yard seasons.
I like Meyers, but his numbers are what they are.
My guess is he falls somewhere between $20-$23M/year.

Meyers Would Bring a Solid Floor to the Jets WR Room
The former NC State product entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2019.
Meyers has had at least 804 receiving yards and at least 67 receptions each season over the last four years. The ceiling is questionable, with only one 1,000-yard-plus receiving season in his career.
However, the Jets don’t need a superstar pass catcher opposite of Garrett Wilson. What they need is a reliable presence that is good enough for defenses to respect on a play-by-play basis.
If they don’t, the player in question can take advantage of that situation and make some plays.
The Jets are still seeking a player to fill that void ahead of 2025.
