David Beckham’s Inter Miami are ‘in talks’ over signing free agent Raphael Varane after his summer exit from Manchester United, according to reports.

Varane waved an emotional goodbye to United fans after the 3-2 win over Newcastle United last month, brining his three-year stint at the club to an end.

The 31-year-old French centre-back made 95 appearances for the Red Devils from 2021 to 2024, helping Erik ten Hag’s men clinch the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.

United decided to part ways with Varane upon the expiry of his contract and he could now be heading to Major League Soccer (MLS) to link up with Beckham.

Inter Miami were founded by United legend Beckham six years ago and the American side have a number of superstars already – including Lionel Messi.

Messi is not the only big name at the United States-based club, though, with Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and Luis Suarez all currently playing in Miami too.

Varane could now become the latest star heading to Chase Stadium amid fresh reports that Inter Miami have initiated talks with the player over a possible move.

The Frenchman, who spent 10 years at Real Madrid before he switched over to Old Trafford, penned an emotional message to United fans in May.

‘It’s been an amazing few years to play for this special club and wearing that shirt,’ Varane said. ‘The first time I went to Old Trafford as a Manchester United player was insane, the atmosphere was amazing.

‘I fell in love with the club, with the fans. You have to play for Man United to understand what that represents. For my kids, it’s home here. It’s going to be a special place for me for life.

‘When the fans go to Wembley it’s something they remember for life. To share that moment with them [winning the Carabao Cup] was absolutely amazing.

‘Despite the fact we had a difficult season, I’m very positive for the future. The new owners are coming with a clear plan and a great strategy.

‘I’ll see you at Old Trafford to say goodbye for the last game at home this season [against Newcastle] and it’s going to be a very emotional day for me, for sure.’
