Is Beyonce’s NFL Christmas Gameday show free to watch on Netflix or do I need to buy a Texans-Ravens pay-per-view?

NETFLIX has a glorious gift for football fans this festive season — the NFL Christmas Gameday.

It includes a huge halftime show from superstar songstress Beyonce — but is it included in the general subscription?

Netflix is taking a serious swing at becoming one of the leading sports broadcasters in the world, as evidenced by their coverage of the blockbuster bust-up between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson.

The steaming giant is also bringing the NFL Christmas Gameday to a living room near you soon.

In a groundbreaking announcement on November 17, 2024, Netflix revealed that global superstar Beyonce will headline the halftime show.

The event marks a significant milestone in the convergence of sports, entertainment and streaming services, offering fans worldwide an unmissable holiday spectacle.

Is the NFL Christmas Gameday on standard Netflix subscription or do you have to buy a pay-per-view?

This is the question a great many fans have been asking since the amazing announcement.

NFL Christmas Gameday on your standard Netflix subscription seems too good to be true — but both games ARE available on any subscription at NO EXTRA COST.

The NFL Christmas Gameday will be available to all standard Netflix subscribers at no additional cost.

A current ads-supported subscription costs £4.99-a-month (or $6.99 in the US), while a standard one, which allows you to watch on two devices at once, is £10.99-a-month ($15.49).

There is no need to purchase a separate pay-per-view package for the games or Beyonce‘s halftime show.

What we know about Beyonce’s performance

Beyonce’s performance is scheduled to take place during the halftime of the Baltimore Ravens vs Houston Texans game at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.

The game kicks off at 9.30 pm GMT (4.30 pm ET), making it the second of two NFL games Netflix will stream on Christmas Day.

This halftime show will be the first live performance featuring songs from Beyonce’s genre-bending and record-breaking album Cowboy Carter, adding an extra layer of excitement for music and football fans alike.

The show, produced by Beyonce’s own Parkwood Entertainment in collaboration with Jesse Collins Entertainment, is shrouded in secrecy.

However, expectations are high, given the singer’s track record of spectacular performances.

While details remain under wraps, there are hints that special guests featured on the Cowboy Carter album might join her on stage, promising an unforgettable experience.

Beyonce’s NFL legacy

This performance adds to Beyonce’s impressive NFL resume.

She previously headlined the Super Bowl XLVII halftime show in 2013 in New Orleans, reuniting with Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.

In 2016, she returned to the Super Bowl stage, joining Coldplay and Bruno Mars for one of the most-watched halftime shows in history, attracting 115.5 million viewers.

NFL on Netflix

On December 25, 2024, Netflix will become the global home for two marquee NFL games:

Kansas City Chiefs vs Pittsburgh Steelers at 6 pm GMT (1.00 pm ET)

Baltimore Ravens vs Houston Texans at 9.30 pm GMT (4.30 pm ET) — featuring Beyonce’s halftime show

This collaboration builds on Netflix’s growing relationship with the NFL, which began with the successful series Quarterback in 2023, followed by Receiver in 2024.

These shows provided fans with unprecedented behind-the-scenes access to NFL players and their lives.

Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria said: “Last year, we decided to take a big bet on live — tapping into massive fandoms across comedy, reality TV, sports, and more.

“There are no live annual events, sports or otherwise, that compare with the audiences NFL football attracts.

“We’re so excited that the NFL’s Christmas Day games will be only on Netflix.”

Viewing options

While Netflix will be the primary platform for global viewers, the NFL is maintaining its commitment to traditional broadcasting.

In keeping with long-standing holiday traditions, the Christmas Day games will also air on broadcast TV in the competing teams’ home cities.

Additionally, US viewers can access the games on mobile devices through NFL+.
