Newcastle United host Brentford in the Premier League on Wednesday night, with the Magpies playing for the first time since their Carabao Cup triumph.

There were emotional scenes last month as the Magpies landed their first major trophy in decades by beating Liverpool at Wembley.

Eddie Howe will now be set on refocussing and ending the Premier League season strongly as Champions League football is still very much within their reach.

Newcastle go into Wednesday’s game sixth in the table, just one point behind Manchester City in fifth and two adrift of Chelsea in fourth.

Brentford could still pinch a European finish this season given how congested it is in the middle of the Premier League table.

Thomas Frank’s side sit 11th, but Europa or Conference League places are still up for grabs with an impressive climax to the campaign.

The Bees do have a tough run ahead of them, though, as they follow this clash with Newcastle with games against Chelsea, Arsenal and Brighton.
