Italian Lorenzo Musetti Reacts to Iga Swiatek’s Viral Strawberry Pasta Dish

This week, Lorenzo Musetti was the first Italian player to sit down with Prakash Amritraj at the Tennis Channel desk since 2025 Wimbledon winner Iga Swiatek made headlines earlier in the month with her viral strawberry pasta dish.

The dish, which Swiatek said consists of pasta, strawberries, and a, quote, “little bit” of yogurt, left some fans curious, and others baffled.

Following his opening-round win at the National Bank Open Presented by Rogers, Musetti was quickly asked about the dish during his sit-down with Prakash Amritraj at the Tennis Channel desk.

“Don’t let me comment on the pasta from Iga, please. I think my reaction said it all.”

Lorenzo Musetti Wasn’t the Only Italian Player Left Baffled by Strawberry Pasta Dish

Although Lorenzo Musetti was the first Italian player to weigh in on Iga Swiatek’s strawberry pasta dish while speaking with Amritraj on Tennis Channel,  fellow Italian standout Flavio Cobolli revealed earlier in the month that Swiatek may be in for a tough time when she next goes to Italy.

During an in-studio Tennis Channel appearance where he spoke with Steve Weissman and Jon Wertheim prior to his Wimbledon quarterfinal match against Novak Djokovic, Cobolli weighed in:

“I talked with her yesterday. I told her what she did, because now people want to try strawberry and pasta, and I will never want to try, because it’s something that is really strange, and I don’t want to be in her position. I wish her good luck when she comes back to Italy.”

While Swiatek went on to win the tournament, the debate surrounding the dish continued to rage on, with both the Polish and the Italian US embassies exchanging tweets over the matter.

Musetti stunned by Alex Michelsen in Toronto

After a straight-set win over Jamie Duckworth in his opening-round match of the Toronto Open this week, Lorenzo Musetti was stunned by American Alex Michelsen in the Round of 32 on Thursday.

Michelsen, who entered the tournament as the No. 26 seed, conceded the first set before elevating his level of play in the second, winning a tiebreak 7-4 to force a deciding set.

In the third, Michelsen was able to secure an early break, putting the pressure on Musetti to not only hold at 5-3, but then break to stay in the match at 5-4.

While Musetti was able to successfully hold at 5-3, he was unable to break to stay in the match despite a valiant effort.

With some impressive composure in big moments combined with daring winners, Michelsen was able to secure just the second top-10 win of his career, advancing to the Round of 16 for the first time at a Masters 1000 tournament.

He now awaits the winner of Learner Tien vs. Reilly Opelka.

After the win, Michelsen reflected on the win over Musetti in his on-court interview, saying:

“Yeah first time in the fourth round, feels really good. I’ve put a lot of hard work in and it’s finally starting to pay off a little bit. I was wondering when it would happen so, I guess it’s starting to happen a little bit right now. Super happy.”

On the flip side, Musetti now falls to No. 10 in the world on the ATP Live Rankings.
