They have now won just once in their last 12 matches under emotional boss Pep Guardiola.

While Grealish has gone 45 games without a goal – spanning the course of 369 days.

The England winger used to be a cult hero with Villa supporters, having joined them aged six in 2002.

He made his debut aged 18 just 12 years later.

And Grealish went on to score 32 goals in 213 games for the Midlands side, helping them seal a return to the top flight in 2019.

But despite his past heroics, the playmaker was routinely jeered by home fans throughout the game.

Grealish clashed with several Villa players on the field, most notably right-back Matty Cash.

And at the final whistle he was booed even louder by the Brummie crowd.

However, Grealish was unable to take the jeers in his stride.

Instead, he flicked three fingers up at irate supporters in response.

It appeared to be a reference to the three Premier League titles he has won with City since joining them from Villa in a £100million deal in 2021.

Grealish has played 142 for City and also helped them to the Treble in 2023.

But his form has nosedived this season, with teammates also struggling to impress.

City have lost six times in the league this season – already more than any other previous campaign Grealish has featured in since joining them.

They are nine points behind leaders Liverpool, who still have TWO games in hand.

While Chelsea could go 10 points clear if they beat Everton in tomorrow’s early kick-off.
