Jack Grealish is maintaining his fitness on holiday after being axed from Manchester City’s Club World Cup squad.

City have already arrived in the United States ahead of their opening game against Moroccan side Wydad on June 18. Guardiola’s side will also play Juventus and Al-Ain in Group G.

But Grealish will play no part in the tournament as he was left out of City’s 27-man travelling party.

The 29-year-old is currently on holiday and on Saturday, he made it clear that he is keep up his fitness ahead of the new season with a topless selfie on Instagram with the caption: ‘Late night runs on holiday. Feeling good.’

City are prepared to take a huge loss on Grealish this summer having signed him for £100m from Aston Villa four years ago.

It’s understood that City would accept a £40m bid for the midfielder, whose representatives are actively searching for a new club.

However, reports this week have claimed that City have had no offers for Grealish, while his £300,000-a-week salary could also prove to be a major obstacle for interested sides this summer.

Grealish’s status at City became clear towards the end of the season after he was left on the bench for the 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final, with Guardiola sending on 19-year-old Claudio Echeverri for his debut in the second half instead of the club’s £100m signing.

Grealish was also left out of City’s squad entirely for their 2-0 win away to Fulham on the final day of the Premier League season.

The midfielder still has two years remaining on his contract with City, who have already strengthened this summer with the signings of Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Ait-Nouri.

Speaking last week, England manager Thomas Tuchel made it clear that Grealish needed to leave City in order to have a chance of making his World Cup squad next year.

‘I have maybe the same information as you that City are thinking of not taking him to the Club World Cup. So he needs to make himself available by playing. I think it’s one of his key strengths,’ Tuchel said.

‘To go every three days and get better and better with every minute that he has in his legs. That’s what is missing, nothing else.’
