Jannik Sinner cancelled his afternoon training session at Wimbledon on Tuesday amid rumours that he could withdraw due to a right elbow injury.
Sinner got hurt during his walkover win over Grigor Dimitrov on Monday with the world No.1 revealing that he was planning to get an MRI scan.
The Italian was set for a practice session at the All England Club the following day ahead of his quarter-final clash against Ben Shelton.
But the 4pm session was called off after his MRI scan on Tuesday morning, leading to genuine concerns that he may have to pull out.
Sinner: It was quite an unfortunate fall
Speaking in his post-match press conference on Monday night, after a clash which saw him require a medical time out, Sinner said: ‘It happened very early in the match, first game.
‘[It] was quite [an] unfortunate fall. [We] checked the videos a little bit, and it didn’t seem [to be a] tough one, but I still felt it quite a lot, especially serve and forehand.

‘I could feel it. So let’s see. [On Tuesday] we are going to check to see how it is, and then we see.’
When is Sinner’s quarter-final clash vs Shelton?
According to reports, Sinner decided to rest on Tuesday as a ‘precaution’ and he is determined to play in Wednesday’s quarter-final against Shelton.

Sinner vs Shelton is the second scheduled match on Centre Court tomorrow, getting underway in less than 24 hours in south west London.
Sinner is one of the main favourites to clinch the Wimbledon men’s singles trophy this year along with the likes of Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic.
Murray: Sinner was very lucky against Dimitrov

Jamie Murray, speaking exclusively to Metro, feels Sinner was incredibly lucky to progress past Dimitrov in the last round, given that he lost the first two sets before his opponent was forced to retire due to his own injury.
‘He got very lucky, yeah’ Murray said. ‘Two sets down and 2-2 in the third and the guy tears his pec muscle, which is a random injury to get.
‘Sinner was struggling, not playing his best tennis, Dimitrov was playing well and was controlling the match.
‘Sinner will be counting his lucky stars he’s still in the tournament and has a chance to win Wimbledon.’
Roger Federer, meanwhile, is adamant that Alcaraz will come out on top at this year’s Championships.
Federer took part in a Rolex event in London last week which featured a Q&A session with an audience.
Federer was asked about who he thought would win the Wimbledon men’s singles title and said that Alcaraz was ‘slightly favoured’ over Sinner and Djokovic.
Andy Roddick, though, has backed three-time Grand Slam champion Sinner to become ‘one of the best players of all time’.
